Re: GOTW nominee week 2- Tyrone vs Central
Intriguing week 2 matchup with Tyrone traveling to Central after a week one loss to Bellwood.
Couple things to consider...
How is Tyrone's health? Did they sustain any injuries in the physical/emotional opener with Bellwood?
Central appeared to roll over CR without any substantial injuries other than some fatigue in the early season due to heat/humidity.
Central was not really tested in a tight setting where they had to maintain/sustain a long drive to control the clock and convert 3 down situations on offense. Central was able to rely on big plays with the explosiveness of Bradi Moore and Austin Cunningham...look for Tyrone to minimize these threats.
Another item to consider is how Tyrone will react to the early season loss...I look for them to come out hungry for a win. Even without Franco, these kids have had so much success in the last 2 to 3 years that they do not want the taste of defeat on their tongues for another week. I would not expect much of a letdown or carryover from the Bellwood game.
This year's Central team has flown under the radar so to speak...They appear to have pretty good balance on offense and solid defensive play lead by LB Todd Slick. Obviously, Tyrone will present a much larger challenge in the skill positions and the size of their offensive lineman but look for Central to compete, especially on their home turf.
Early yet to predict but watch out for the special team play. It appears to me that Moore is especially dangerous for Central in the open field on punt and/or kick off returns. He has exceptional vision and is able to make great cutbacks in traffic...at least against Ridge who really struggled with their overall tackling.
Early prediction...Cental 27 Tyrone 21 (due primarily to the home field setting)

I think Slick will have a bunch of tackles, and Central wins 24-7

I'm saving a tirade until Ihave more of a body of work to refer to. All I know is this Tyrone team should have 8-9 wins goining into the playoffs, from what I've seen so far; I doubt that happens. I'm just waiting and seeing. If they clean up some stuff and improve their tackling, I'd take Tyrone by 1-2 scores; If they have 4 delay and 3 procedure penalties, waste timeouts, and contribute to a Central score ....I'll go Dragons by 14... I just hope it's a good game.

Central 28
Tyrone 0
Never thought that outcome would occur. Central won the battle of the defensive line play after a solid first quarter drive by Tyrone. Big plays again aided Central...Moore and Cunningham...early on staking a claim as the most outstanding juniors in the area.
Future looking bright for the Dragons.
