Is there a team that can stop Ligonier Valley?

I may be wrong but I believe that Apollo Ridge is part of a merger w/ Ford City and others. I do think that Leechburg may think long and hard about a move out of the WPIAL and WS could move during the next cycle as well.

With single A going to a 10 game schedule there looks less likely than ever that the eight other Heritage schools would form a separate conference without Liggy. Looking for three non-conference games would lead to many schools having to play atleast one if not more AA or bigger schools. LV/PM will be the only real test for the first nine weeks of the season. Liggy will not change conference since they truly feel that they will be droping to A in one of the next two cycles. I personally donot see this happen unless they do close Laurel Valley Elementary and an even bigger exodus, than the exodus after the closing of Laurel Valley HS of school, age families move out of the area.
As for a Westpac/ Heritage merger this would be unlikely with the Westpac having 14 basketball schools, if that number ever drops to 13 then ACII could be very possible. There is no possible way that these schools would ever form a conference with BC again, no matter how down BC athletics might be at the time
Apollo Ridge might get a slight bump in enrollment if the parents of South Bend Twp. Armstrong County (formerly part of Elderton) gets their wish to attend AR and not the new Ford City/Kittaning H.S. Will this be called Armstrong Centeral again?
PS I have been to 2 Heritage Conference (non-Liggy) games this year and have not heard a Liggy being AA complaint for the first time, It was very common to hear such complaints even in games not involving Liggy in the past.

Or just dont include ligonier in the new Appalachian conference

The plans, for quite awhile now, are not for South Bend high school students to attend the new to be built Armstrong High School, but continue to be bussed to West Shamokin High School which is also in the Armstrong School District.cleaverstuart wrote:

If an agreement for Armstrong School District's South Bend students to attend Apollo Ridge High School is made, those additional South Bend students will probably put Apollo Ridge into class AA again considering that last year Apollo Ridge was class AA and it was only a small drop in enrollment that put them in class A.
Since Apollo Ridge was not at all happy in a WPIAL class AA conference, they might become, along with West Shamokin who also was not happy in a WPIAL class AA conference, a serious District 6 applicant.

West Shamokin will most like be bumped back into a AA football conference if they have to stay in the WPIAL but will the basketball powers there that put a stop to the move to the Heritage a couple of years ago put a stop to it again if there is a motion to move? AR might look at the Heritage a little harder this time but never heard much about a positve response about moving to the Heritage a couple of years ago. Leechburg is some what interested but would the WPIAL and D-6 approve such a move since unlike WS (West Mahonning Twp.) & AR (Young Twp.) there is not part of Leechburg S.D. in a D-6 county.
Yes I know Westmoreland County is not a D-6 county but Bolivar HS become a member of D-6 in the 1930's; New Florence H.S. in 1948, and when they merged to form Laurel Valley HS in 1952-53, LV was approved as a member; Liggy joined D-6 in 1969 or 70 and part of Leechburg is in Westmoreland but they donot boarder a D-6 or D-5 county even like Liggy, or D-9 County like WS which they once belonged too

What about a football-only merger between Heritage/Westpac?
Re: Is there a team that can stop Ligonier Valley?
Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't believe lig has ever won a playoff game under beteil. Their schedule does not prepare them for the playoffs. It is pointless for them to play all a schools, I can't see them dropping down a classification anytime soon. And to answer the topic...yes there is a team that can stop them

Re: Is there a team that can stop Ligonier Valley?
S Cube I really don't see any expansion to a football only conference with the agreement for the crossover game for weeks one thru nine in place, two ten team would mean one Wespac team would have to join the Heritage for football which makes Blacklick Valley the most likely canidate, I have some Nanty Glo area friends and trust me they are NOT Interested, a three section league likethe AC of the late 80's early 90's would mean one more school could get a trophy (but don't all kids get a trophy today) but would really just increase travel distances for the vast majority of schools. I would like to see all 4 D-6 Wespac School schedule a Heritage School in week 10 of the next cycle, with more time to schedule a week ten game this would most likely happen unless there are 2 D-6 Westpac schools that didn't play each other in the first ten weeks then you could see another CV/Ferndale type week 10 game again
