HERITAGE WEEK 5

Post by HSfan »

Week 5
Last week 5-0 and 16-4 ytd.

United (0-4) 13
Saltsburg (0-4) 26

Not much to choose from with two winless teams. Saltsburg has been outscored 129-28. United is worse at 186-7, Ouch. Glad that someone gets a win.

Purchase Line (0-4) 7
Northern Cambria (3-1) 28

PL has moved the ball rushing, 204 y/g, but only 16.5 y/g passing. NC gets 313 y/g of offense and allows 198 y/g where the Red Dragons give-up 287 y/g.

Penns Manor (3-1) 34
Marion Center (1-3) 7

Now PM QB Danny Ferens is hot, 9-262 and 5 TD's rushing against United last week. He now leads the Heritage with 710 yd and 14.8 y/att with 10 TD's. Passing, he is 16-30-0-229 and 3 TD"s with a 150 rating. MC leading rusher is Brodey Thompson with 194 yd, 4.4 y/att and 1 TD.

Co-Games of the Week
Homer-Center (4-0) 21
Blairsville (2-2) 22

Blairsville's HC Ab Dettorre, in his 26th year, knows how to run a passing game. His Bobcats lead the Heritage with 190 y/g passing. H-C runs the ball well with 236 y/g, third best in the Heritage behind LV and PM. The Wildcats play better defense, 153 y/g vs Bl 356 y/g. These teams have played three common opponents. H-C also played Saltsburg while Bl had LV.

Ligonier Valley (4-0) 28
Windber (4-0) 14

LV rushes for 345 y/g and allows 27 y/g. Windber has a balanced attack with 273 y/g rushing and 120 y/g passing. Both teams have only one win vs a good team, the Rams over Blairsville 49-15 and the Ramblers 34-18 over Blacklick Valley. A LV win would cut the WPAC lead over the Heritage to 3-2.

All games Friday at 7 PM.

I like your picks for this week. The HC vs blairsville game should be a good one!

Hsfan I was curious to how good HC is. We have to play them this year and I noticed that they didnt win a game last year.
Being that they are out to a 4-0 start I was just wondering if they returned a pile of guys and were they in alot of close games last year.
The reason I ask is I find it odd that a team does a complete 180 from one year to the next. Whatever they are doing out there is working this year and congrats to them on their early success.

Hc is really an unknown still. They did return a lot of guys but other than nc they have not played a good team.

Saltsburg over united 14-6
Penns manor over Marion center 48-7
Norther Cambria over purchase line 35-14
Blairsville over homer center 36-21
Ligonier over winber 49-21

Homer-Center returned 8 on offense including the QB and 9 on defense. They should lose at LV week 8 and the following week at PM.
Purchase Line was 9-0 in the Heritage in 2008 and 0-9 and out scored 299 to 26 in 2009.

The catz have been playing good football so far especially forcing alot of turnovers this season. With the addition of a new skill player along with rb Newhouse they have been moving the ball well. This week will be a good test. I'll take hc by 6

The schedule so far this year has been helpful to HC's turnaround, but the coaching staff stayed positive with a VERY young team last year and from what I understand they bulked up their linemen (single A, so they play both ways, you know) significantly in the off-season. The starting Sophomore QB (Berezansky) started (I believe every game) as a Freshman last season and definitely is playing like a second-year starter (and a pretty decent one) so far this year. Also, they have a transfer (Nealy) that played for a pretty large school in Ohio (comparable to a AAA or AAAA in PA from what I understand) that is a definite impact player for a single A program. So...to sum up; Coaching, Experience and a little Luck.

In my opinion, their game this week will be VERY close. I'm guessing 35-34 because I don't think either defense can stop the other offense's strength (HC's running, B's passing), and I'm picking Blairsville entirely because they are the home team. Should be a great high school football game.

H-C Head Coach Greg Page is the son of Jerry Page of Laurel Valley fame.
QB Aaron Berezansky is 16-30-337-1 with 2 TD's and 160 rating, second highest in the Heritage.
The transfer is Jared Nealey who is by far the leading receiver, 9 for 146 yd. He is also second in rushing, 15-198 with 4 TD's and a 13.2 y/att.
