Anyone else notice, that Pedro has raised his avg. from .188 a month before the all-star break to around .250? BTW- Cutch hit .216 the second half last year, and has dropped his avg from .374 to .343 in a month, he also leads the team in K's over the last month. Sounds like Bonds in crunch time...Just sayin

Well all four wheels have fallen off and there are no spare tires in the trunk. What a shame that it look like one of the worst streaks will continue for at last another year with consecutive losing seasons. To think at one point in July they were 17 games above .500. All I can say is wow. I really thought without a doubt they were going to break that streak.

So the question is, will heads roll? Who is responsible? Ownership has already said Huntington and Stark will be back. Does Hurdle get axed? I hope not, but I'd be surprised if someone doesn't lose their job over this one.

Not sure that ownership has signed off on anyone coming back just yet. Coonley has continued to stand by his 'best management team in pro sports' belief, but based on article in today's Tribune Review, Bob Nutting may not be in agreement any longer.

Still on fence about Hurdle. I really like him, if Leyland (last year of contract) shows any interest whatsoever...DROP THE HAMMER! If not, I think Hurdle will get another year, but say bye,bye to Searage, Hitting coach, hopefully Silverio, and for Gods' sake, buy Leyva's bus ticket for him!

I know its frustrating to collapse like this but remember 2 seasons ago the pirates won 53 games. They've improved 25 games in 2 years. That never happens in baseball (please ignore this years orioles). It would be tough to look at anyone in this organization and say they've failed to do their job over the past few seasons. I give them at least one more year.

I didn't drink the kool-aid this year, and I'm not gonna do it next year either.

This year has had a lot of teams move around in the league. Boston, philly, and angels all fall back a ways. Oakland, Baltimore, Washington, and even Chicago white sox improved a bunch.
