And please don't forget, PSU did not FIRE Paterno because of poor on the field performance or POOR past recruiting. PSU had a great nucleus returning for this year. They actually could have been 7-0 at this point. Sure they lost their starting tailback and an OK receiver, but BO'B was handed a pretty good team. The schedule has been favorable. Navy beat Indiana on Saturday, so that one is a gimme down the road. Nebraska only beat NW by one point. Purdue on the road might be tough, OSU and Wisconsin are not the teams of old. No games with Michigan or MSU. Are there actually any Big Ten teams in the top 20 other than OSU?? Certainly not in the top 15. To their credit, the PSU seniors (who were stuck at PSU for their final year) did a great job of talking the underclassmen into staying this year. Who's gonna bail for next year? Who knows.

One of the best things about this season is watching PSU fans get all excited about this team and coach win. With every win their expectations climb, then reality hits them and they remember the sanctions. So after each meaningless game each PSU fan finds a way to ease to pain. Some drink, some abuse drugs, others go seek professional help. Kirk has chosen to make fun of a terrible football team. We will all be here for you Kirk for the next 4 years. Let it out. Let it out.

Thank you for the offer Bleacherbum, but watching Pitt football is all I need to make me feel better about the Penn State sanctions.

I'm just saying that PSU fans have gone all gaga over the Nits 5 game winning streak. The win over Iowa was NOT a coup. Iowa lost to Central Michigan, only scored 6 points against Iowa State, and beat Northern Illinois 18-17. At 4-3, they still have to face Northwestern, Purdue, Michigan and Nebraska. They certainly could end up 5-7. They may not even become bowl eligible. Meanwhile, to become bowl eligible, Penn State needs only 4 more.........years, that is.

BLAH-BLAH-BLAH, Bleacherbum. Sounds like sour grapes from a Pitt fan.

Where did anyone say beating Iowa was a big deal? I don't see anyone saying that. What I do see is fans who really like what they see on the field for the first time in a long time. I see a coach with an attacking game plan and enthusiasm that the program hasn't had in a very long time. Is it going to get worse? Of course it is. However, the product for the past ten years wasn't good. The sanctions mean PEnn State won't be winning National Titles or playing in a meaningless bowl game for 4 years(Beef O'Brady in Birmingham for Pitt again?). Guess what? Penn state really hasnt been winning national titles or playing in many bcs games anyway. 4 more years of not doing so is ok. I think kids like O'Briens enthusiasm and will still come in as recruits. Seasons won't be great, but they won't be total disasters either. 4 years from now I am excited to see what could happen with this team.

I understand the excitment people have, but, how many expect Obrien to be around in 4 years when sanctions are over? Serious question. I really don't know what to expect.
