I cant believe I am going to say this but Hayes simply coached a better game than Wheeler tonight. Bellwood had no answer for BG's running game between the tackles. However, Wheeler did...every time they got in the red zone or 3rd down (less than 5) he tried bootlegs and passes that simply were not working. Why on earth would you go away from what got you there when BA had shown no ability to stop it.

I also want to know this from BG. Up until one meaningless TD drive late every single pass play looked like it was the same exact play..QB rolls out to his left and tries to hit one of three receivers flooding the area.... first of all why the heck would you roll out a right handed QB to the left?? secondly.. BA didnt even have to defend 3/4 of the field all night... just some bad offensive coaching by BG in this one.

On the other hand Hayes went back to basics and one long drive to start the second half did the trick. If BG had stuck to what they were doing they would likely have been up at the half and changed everything... very poor.
Guru1....were you actually at this game last night? And if so, just wondering if you were down at the BG pre-game tailgate smoking crack? Or maybe you were confused as to which team was which. FYI...BA was in blue and gold, BG was purple and gold. You thought BG was the more physical team? You thought BA had no answer for BG's running game? BG....23 carries for 74 yards, BA...54 carries for 204 yards...ENOUGH SAID!!! I'll grant you that BG was bigger, and should have had an advantage in the trenches. But BA beat them at their own game with a 9:10 drive to start the 2nd half. The best team won.

I assumed a bellwood homer would take offense to my comment. YES I was at the game and NO I wasnt tailgating with BG. The stats kind of make my point. Point 1: BG ran the ball VERY well up the gut and BA could not stop it. The reason the stats dont show it was because the BG coaching staff got away from it many times when they should have kept it up... that was the point!!! I did give Kudos to Hayes and the Blue Devils for the opening drive of the second half. The bulk of their rushing yardage came on that drive and late when the game was essentially over.

Were you not watching the entire first half when BG's line was blowing BA off the ball to the tune of 5-7 yards a carry every single time they went up the gut?? If the BG coaches had stayed with this they would have won the game. That said my hats off to Coach Hayes and the Blue Devils. their experience showed thru and they did what they are supposed to do as the home team..they won.

If you consider 3.2 yards per carry as "running the ball VERY well up the gut" and dominating the line of scrimmage.....then you win.

I dont know why i am bothering because you are clearly a typical Bellwoodite but let me spell it out for you in crayon

My point was that BG wasn't stopped when running up the gut. My criticism of the coaches was that they got away from that and kept trying to run sweeps.

Are you with me so far??? Ok..so.. All of those sweeps count in the 3.2 yards per carry. If you had the game tape and could break down the YPC based on sweeps and gut runs you would see what i was trying to say.....you can make stats show just about anything you want...anyone else who was at the game as a impartial fan would agree with me (and they have previously on the board).

its all ok... McCort will shut you up soon enough.

BG had some success running the ball ON THE FIRST DRIVE. They got to the BA-15 and had a FG blocked. Did you ever consider that maybe BA made adjustments after that first drive and shut down the inside run? That's why BG tried to go outside and didn't have much success there either. Aside from that first drive and a late 4th quarter, 4th and long TD pass in which the BA defender jumped too soon, BA's defense dominated. Just think it's silly that you would think that BG was the "better, more physical team"

Wow what a game was not expecting such a blowout. Congratulations to Bellwood on a District 6 Championship and to Bishop McCort for having a great season.
