Even if D5 plays D3 and D6 plays WPIAL, D6 would STILL be better than D5. Not saying D6 beats the WPIAL, they would give them a much tougher game each year though, just saying no matter what D6 A is better than D5 A. Always have been, probably always will be.

Pretty uneducated comment there. District 6 won't allow Portage or others to join D5.

District 5A gets a bad rap for having to play the State Champion in the first round of state playoffs yearly. if it were a role reversal and D-5 played D-3 and D-6 played the WPIAL, im pretty sure the results would be the same. as good as Richland was this year, im not sure how many, if any, they would score on Clairton. thats just being honest, D5 has some talented players and teams, just not on the same level as Clairton
Aliquippa is probably better than Clairton... If not they are about on the same level, and Richland put 21 on them. However, I will say it is unfair to compare D5 to D6 because of how little teams D5 has. Chestnut Ridge had no business being a district champion but they were because there are only 3 teams in D5 AA. Even in A what does D5 have maybe ten teams? D6A has 22. And then there is the WPIAL who has 40-50 A teams. When you have that many more teams in your district than the others, your best is going to be better than the other district's best most of the time.

Thank you LHAC fan, while I don't agree about aliquippa being better than clairton. You get the fact that when you have alot more teams your district stands a better chance to win!

I merely stated that Richland did a good job, if you think not scoring a single point in five years and giving up an average of 44 is a good job, then by all means pat your D5 champs on the back

District 5 has not scored a single point against the single A champ from disrtict 7 in the past 5 years

Also Karns City beat Chestnut Ridge and Richland looked a lot better than Karns City against the Quips

Also Bellwood won a game outside of the district and despite losing a starting qb, put points on the board agains the best team from the east.

Maybe you could ask Santa for a clue for Christmas.
Now carry on and hang your district 5 champs banner and turn down Portage's request to join D5 one more time.
Several things wrong with your post youngbuck. Number one as someone pointed out before, it is district 6 stopping portage from getting out,not district 5. You also seem to forget that the team district 5 hasn't scored a point against(clairton) is the one who has probably had the most dominant run ever in single A ball in PA history! Bellwood won a game outside the district, good point if you wanna boost the district 5 rep. As I have stated quite a few times on of the toughest regular season games for bellwood was Northern Bedford . The same team that didn't make it to the district championship game in 5A. Instead of asking santa for a clue, I will give you one. The difference in ball between district 5 and district 6 isn't as big as you make it.

I wish d5A and d6A played in the 1st round of the piaa playoffs. Less travel and a good gate would help both schools. Plus who wouldn't want to see a Mccort / Windber match-up (as an example) possibly happen? Would lead to alot of good conversation here on bleachercoaches.

Not disagreeing with you Coach on the D5/D6 matchup, but I don't think the schools get the gate during district playoffs.

if you guys remember, at least through the early to mid 90's, D-6 vs. D-5 did happen in states....it was back when it was a true East/West format for class A. I think that went by the wayside when D-6 expanded the number of teams in their district playoffs. Does anyone else remember/agree?
