Just wanted to a HUGE congratulations to the Portage Lady Mustangs who ran their record to a perfect 8-0 yesterday with a win in the Ligonier Valley Holiday Tournament Championship! Final score: Portage 49, Ligonier Valley 46. Thank you Mustang Nation for coming out in full force our crowd was 3 times the size of the home school's. Portage beat AAAA Latrobe and AAA Power Ligonier Valley in this Tourney. The Lady Stang's COULD be a nice contender for the District Single A crown if they keep some momentum and of course get some breaks along the way.

Rothrock from D6 also won a state title in 1963. Also, DeMatha won easily over Northern Cambria in the War Memorial Tournament. The final was something like 94-46 if I remember correctly. Keep in mind, this was the same DeMatha team that beat New York's Power Memorial and gave Lew Alcindor (Kareem Abdul-Jabbar) his only high school loss.
