Titan, so many errors and flat-out lies in that post it's not even worth a response. Believe me those who deserve to be punished should be and those who didn't knowingly do anything wrong should not be, it's that simple. From the bs about Paterno to saying there was a competitive advantage idk how anyone is supposed to take you serious. Also don't understand why Pitt fans are more worried about PSU than they are about their own school, with good reason I guess since Pitt hasn't been relevant in football in what, 3 decades? As far as the lawsuit is concerned it was expected and will probably more coming. No NCAA rules were broken and they shouldn't have accepted the sanctions in the first place. The NCAA's response was also a joke, they talk about the victims but a few of them have already came out against them. I think people just want the truth I don't get why anyone would be against that.

Mary Surratt was hanged for providing the place where John Wilkes Booth met with his friends as they were planning the assassination of Lincoln. The Penn State athletic department was guilty of the same thing. They provided the means with which Sandusky did his acts. The NCAA sees it as such, and the athletic department, especially the football program, SHOULD be penalized for complicity in what occurred.

If that's proven in the court of law then criminally they should be liable sure. It certainly didn't give them a competitive advantage and they didn't break a single NCAA rule. The NCAA aren't law enforcement. Not only that, they should have waited until these trials play out so we can find out who did what and who should be punished instead of going by a faulty report which didn't itself even prove a cover-up and I highly doubt by listening to Emmert that he even read it.El-Moldo wrote:Mary Surratt was hanged for providing the place where John Wilkes Booth met with his friends as they were planning the assassination of Lincoln. Where's the criminality of selling "football stuff" owned by football players at Ohio State? Yet they were penalized. You are right. The NCAA ISN'T the law. But it is an overseer in athletics; to keep things on the up and up. PSU benefitted from years of sweeping this under the rug, which otherwise would have made a difference in their past recruiting, game attendance, win/loss record, etc etc. They truly DID benefit from hiding the scandal.

Leave it to Ol Moldy for a good Mary Surratt reference.
