One thing I can say that's different compared to nc teams is that this blairsville team have 30 point leads at the end of halfs in conference and northern Cambria had really close games. What blairsville is doing in the heritage is never something I've seen in female sports, which heritage is best at. I mean 30 point leads at halftime is really the stat that stands out most to me.

konjo, no, the year nc was in AA and went to AA state title game most of their conference games, they were by 30 or more at the half. I remember Homer-Center supposed to be an up-and-coming team... ugh. that game i think was 50-4 at half. Coach always pulled the dogs big time in the second half so games ended like 65-20. This is the NC team that beat Ford City in the western quarterfinal something like 55-16. I think they only had two close conference games that year... one with Blairsville and one with Marion Center.

Now you might be thinking of the NC teams couple years later that were Single A and not nearly as dominant. Those team still got to the Single A State Title Game and Single A State Quarters though but therein you see the difference between Single A and Double A and the advantage BG has... Just like NC's AA team, Blairsville's team this year is barely AA. Take away a few girls and you immediately have one of the favorites to win Single A.

Seen Blairsville twice this year and to be honest they are the only team (boys or girls) that has impressed and I see at least 2 games a week. 10+ points better than NC state finalist. 12-15 better than BM team of same vintage. Their weaknesses are 1) they are relatively young and 2) they play exceedingly weak competition for 90% of their schedule and, although they may not know it, this is definately hurting them. It is refreshing to see a team that seems to have a group commitment to the game -- an almost unheard of quality today. Last girls teams that had this were Westy state teams and Gongloff coached BC state champs. While they are not in same class as those teams (yet) their commitment shows in their understanding of the game, sound fundamentals, defense first attitude and selfless play offensively. Pair this with a seasoned coach and the stars could be aligned at some point for them.

I am a disinterested, objective, uninvolved observer. Believe me when I say this -- they are the real deal.

Wow... that was probably the best thing that could happen to Blairsville though. They really messed up playing 3 very easy nonconference games. Having so many blowouts doesn't help you, hurts you in many respects. Close games help. Tyrone lost by 4 a week ago to other "top" d6AA team BEA and it wasn't a big deal. This will show Blairsville how hard it is to win d6 and advance in states.

For certain, 3 girls who will play in college at least D2(at least the tallest will play d1 imo). Not much playoff depth on the benchl. In tight games, they probably will play 6 girls( 1 other is injured) so foul trouble by quick whistles is an issue. They have only 1 girl over 5'8. When their press creates points, they are hard to stop. Top playoff teams may break the press most of the time. good FT shooting, team defense and team attitudes.

Psycho is still stuck on the old Westy days. The Tyrone score should tell everyone that, as I said, Blairsville is the favorite in AA but not the class of the field. The cakewalk that was predicted by many might not happen.
