Re: Thomas tournament
From BedfordFan on the D6 board:
I guess I will start the picks! Again, these are only my predictions and are not meant to put down any wrestler or team in any way. I have picked wrestlers to finish higher than other wrestlers who have beaten them this season too, it is just my best guess as to what might happen, and just meant for fun. Some of the records may not be completely up to date, as I got some of them from NWCA before the weekend. Also, please feel free to tell me if I left out a good wrestler that should be on the list, with all these wrestlers it is easy to do that. I hope you enjoy reading them:
My Predictions
106
1. Bedford-Jon Gabriel-106-(17-1)
2. Jefferson-Morgan-Brendan Howard-106-(21-2)
3. Huntington-Collin Glorioso-106-(16-2)
4. South Fayette-Jasper Wolfe-106-(16-6)
5. Chestnut Ridge-Aaron Burkett-106-(16-2)
6. Newport-Patrick OToole-106-(14-5)
7. Claysburg-Jordan Musselman-106-(11-5)
8. Everett-Dalton Klotz-106-(13-3)
Analysis: The predicted 106 final will be worth the price of admission alone. The only person with the opportunity to spoil that final and pull the upset in my opinion is Glorioso. He has had an outstanding year so far, and it will be very interesting to see who gets the top seed between Gabriel and Howard. The weight is relatively thin, however, so don’t look for big upsets here.
113
1. South Fayette-Seth Carr-113-(16-2)
2. Claysburg-Josh Brown-113-(14-4) (The Mirror said on Sunday that Brown is expected to be moving down this week)
3. Meyersdale-Billy Charlton-113-(9-1)
4. Central-Kale Burket-113-(13-1)
5. Bedford-Jabel Warren-113-(12-5)
6. Beth-Center-Zach Swarrow-113-(7-2)
7. Newport-Ben Clay- 113-(12-7)
8. Somerset-Garret Foster-113-(7-3)
Analysis: Carr is ranked 5th in PA Power Rankings, and it will be interesting to see how Brown does if indeed he is able to drop down to 113. Charlton and Burkett are also highly talented wrestlers that I expect to provide tight matches in the semi-finals. Also, I know Swarrow is ranked fairly high, but I have just never been overly impressed by him over the years.
120
1. Tri Valley- Caleb Bordner-120-(17-6)
2. Berlin-Joe Swank-120-(19-3)
3. Mount Pleasant-Mike Novak-120-(20-7)
4. Conemaugh Twp-Kody Ofsanko-120-(13-5)
5. Huntington-Matt Wilson-120-(15-7)
6. North Star-Tayte Mostoller-120-(16-9)
7. West Branch-Abe Albright-120-(16-4)
8. South Fayette-Michael Carr-120-(10-5)
HM- Meyersdale-Brady McKenzie-120-(7-2)
Richland-Adam George-120-(8-6)
Analysis: Other than having Bordner winning it all, it seems to be up in the air to me. There are several quality wrestlers at this weight, but Swank seems the most likely to join Bordner in the finals. Swank beat Wilson 4-0 earlier this year and pinned Mostoller. Albright could also pull an upset and get into the semifinals, and I wouldn't consider it a big upset or be shocked if he did. Ofsanko has lost two close matches to Swank this year and got pinned by Novak, but he is my wildcard to make the finals.
126
1. Bedford-Ryan Easter-126-(17-1)
2. Meyersdale-Collin Day-126-(8-1)
3. Tyrone-Jason Schopp-126-(15-2)
4. Chestnut Ridge-Derrick Claar-126-(19-3)
5. Jefferson Morgan-John Demaske-126-(6-1)
6. Huntington-Devon Green-126-(15-5)
7. Cambria Heights-Brad Thomas-126-(8-2)
8. Northern Garrett-Justin Opel-126
INJ- Blairsville-Luke Mowery-126-(13-6)- I believe he is injured, and I don’t know the extent of it. According to NWCA he hasn’t wrestled since December, but if he is able to wrestle I would put him in the top 8.
Analysis: I don’t see Easter having any issues this year, but then again I didn’t expect him to get upset by Crouse last year, so I guess you never know. Easter handled Day at the Bloody Run Duels earlier this year. I am very interested to see Schopp because he seems to have dramatically improved from last year and could have a good showing this weekend. I had a hard time placing Green in 6th because I think he could have a good showing this weekend as well.
132
1. Bedford-Garrett Thomas-132-(16-2)
2. Jefferson-Morgan-Jason Miller-132-(22-3)
3. West Branch-John Hayles-132-(17-4)
4. Berlin-Chris Miller-132-(17-2)
5. Chestnut Ridge-Trent Crouse-132-(19-3)
6. Northern Bedford-Mason Replogle-132-(15-3)
7. Cambria Heights-Joseph Davis-132-(14-3)
8. Huntington-Nathan Russell-132-(16-4)
HM- Meyersdale-Tanner Hetrick-132-(6-3)
Tri Valley-Chase Schaeffer-132-(14-7)
Analysis: One of the strongest weight classes at the tournament this year, and highly unpredictable. I am not confident in my selections at all haha so your guess is as good as mine. Thomas has been wrestling outstanding as of late, so I am going with him. In reality I feel like just about any of these wrestlers could come away with the title this weekend, it just depends on who gets hot at the right time.
138
1. Blairsville-Noah Tarr-138-(17-1)
2. West Branch-Parker Bumbarger-138-(18-3)
3. Bedford-Toby Brett-138-(14-3)
4. Richland-Nicholas Naglic-138-(15-3)
5. Tri Valley-Hunter Harner-138-(19-6)
6. North Star-Tevin Mostoller-138-(20-4)
7. Northern Bedford-Damian Corle-138-(14-5)
8. Berlin-Braden Fochtman-138-(14-5)
INJ- Northern Garrett-Kevin Hosselrode- He is ranked 8th at 138 in Maryland, but the only two matches where I have been able to see individual results for Northern Garrett, he did not wrestle. I guess he is injured and I do not know if he will be at the tournament.
Analysis: This is another quality weight class that is hard to predict. I feel fairly confident in my finals section, but from 3 down I am not sure. If it is Bumbarger and Brett in the semifinals I expect that to be a great match. Also, Naglic could have a good showing and place higher.
145
1. Conemaugh Twp-Tanner Cahill-145-(18-1)
2. Tri Valley-Blake Bowman-145-(20-4)
3. Northern Bedford-Drew Gartland-145-(16-0)
4. Beth-Center-Jason Stay-145-(15-5)
5. Meyersdale-Seth Deist-145-(9-0)
6. Jefferson Morgan-Ryan Zalar-145-(5-3)
7. Somerset-Mike Laue-145-(11-2)
8. Blairsville-Lucas Palmer-145-(15-5)
HM- Everett-Ejai Rock-145-(13-3)
Huntington-Eric Lynn-145-(15-5)
Analysis: I believe Gartland is a great wrestler, no doubt, but I have him getting upset in the semifinals here because I believe the other two wrestlers are also very talented. Deist will be interesting to see as well as Zalar. Zalar is someone who always seems to be injured, but is very good when healthy. I went with the upset pick and chose Cahill to win this weight.
152
1. Tri Valley-Ty Schoffstall-152-(21-1)
2. Blairsville-Andrew Doak-152-(17-1)
3. Conemaugh Twp-Taylor Cahill-152-(19-1)
4. Bedford-Tanner Williams-152-(17-3)
5. South Fayette-Grant Fetchet-152-(17-3)
6. West Branch-Luke Slippey-152-(14-2)
7. Cambria Heights-Levi Niebauer-152-(13-5)
8. Mount Pleasant-Ethan Charlesworth-152-(12-3)
Analysis: Schoffstall and Doak would be another great final if it happens, but they will face several challenges along the way. Williams has been on fire recently, and it is never easy to beat one of the Cahill brothers. Fetchet is the brother of the 2nd ranked wrestler in the state at 170 (see below), so something tells me he won’t be an easy out either. Slippey has had a very good season as well.
160
1. South Fayette-Jared Walker-160-(12-3)
2. Berlin-Bryce Fochtman-160-(16-2)
3. Tri Valley-Anthony Snyder-160-(17-7)
4. Somerset-Landon Lohr-160-(10-2)
5. Bedford-Caleb Grimes-160-(12-5)
6. Jefferson Morgan-Bill Bowlen-160-(16-5)
7. Chestnut Ridge-Connor Buttry-160-(10-4)
8. Conemaugh Twp-Ryan Grosik-160-(10-5)
Analysis: Not the strongest weight at the tournament this year, but definitely has the potential for a lot of good matchups and upsets. Walker is ranked 7th in the state, and Fochtman has had a very good season so far. If Lohr wrestles well he can definitely make the finals, and I expect a good showing from Snyder as well. Grimes has really come on for Bedford recently, and Buttry is doing an excellent job as a freshman for Ridge.
170
1. South Fayette-Michael Fetchet-170-(18-0)
2. Meyersdale-Billy Dunbar-170-(7-0)
3. Chestnut Ridge-Bradie Bollman-170-(14-1)
4. Blairsville-Bobby Thompson-170-(14-4)
5. Richland-Nico Pecora-170-(15-4)
6. West Branch-Lucas Kristofits-170-(17-4)
7. Northern Bedford-Justin Brunner-170-(10-6)
8. Mount Pleasant-Austin Piper-170-(12-9)
Analysis: If there was any wrestler I would fell comfortable putting all my chips on this weekend its Michael Fetchet. He is ranked 2nd in the state and thus far dominated almost all his competition. However, Dunbar and Bollman have a lot of talent and could give him everything he wants in the finals. The match I most want to see in this weight is Dunbar vs. Bollman in the semifinals, it should be a great one if that’s how the seedings work out.
182
1. Jefferson Morgan-Dustin Conti-182-(18-0)
2. Chestnut Ridge-Tyler Dibert-182-(19-2)
3. Tyrone-Jared Beckwith-182-(14-2)
4. Meyersdale-Gavin Berkley-182-(9-0)
5. Cambria Heights-Tyler Crawford-182-(12-1)
6. Bedford-Michael Brett-182-(12-4)
7. Blairsville-Alex Tripodis-182-(13-5)
8. Tri Valley-Lyle Troutman-182-(17-4)
Analysis: This weight is going to be a ton of fun to watch. I honestly believe any of these wrestlers can beat one another. I have Conti winning because he has wrestled very well this year, but the quarterfinals and semifinals should be great here. Brett, Tripodis and Troutman are all excellent wrestlers and could beat Conti, Dibert, or Beckwith. Personally, I am just looking forward to see how this weight plays out.
195
1. Somerset-Jacob Nickelson-195-(12-1)
2. Tyrone-DJ Wunder-195-(15-2)
3. Mount Pleasant-Eli Holt-195-(17-6)
4. South Fayette-Zach Walker-195-(14-2)
5. Chestnut Ridge-Brad Winegardner-195-(16-2)
6. Berlin-Stewart Trulick-195-(17-3)
7. Tussey Mountain-Shad Brumbaugh-195-(9-0)
8. Penn Cambria-Harry Schlosser-195-(19-5)
Analysis: I was surprised to see that Nickelson lost this weekend again to the wrestler from Kittaning. No matter, I still believe he will win this weight class. Wunder is a great wrestler and if he has to wrestle Holt in the semifinals, that should be a great match. Also, look for Winegardner to be a tough out, he has been wrestling very well this season.
220
1. West Branch-Reynold Maines-220-(21-0)
2. Chestnut Ridge-Dan Albright-220-(18-1)
3. Blairsville-Luke White-220-(19-4)
4. Berlin-Mitchell Walker-220-(13-5)
5. North Star-Levi Albright-220-(18-5)
6. Northern Bedford-Eric Grace-220-(12-4)
7. Bedford-Chance Williams-220-(11-5)
8. Penn Cambria-Seth McLendon-220-(6-2)
Analysis: Another highly competitive weight class. I feel pretty confident in the finals being Maines vs Albright, and I think it will be a great match to watch. After that, it is up in the air. Walker lost to Levi Albright, then beat him, and lost to Dan Albright in SV. Levi Albright beat Grace, and then lost to Williams, but Grace beat Williams. If you actually followed that mess, then you may agree with me that predicting 3-7 is almost impossible.
285
1. Chestnut Ridge-Austin Buttry- 285-(15-0)
2. West Branch-Morgan Selepack-285-(15-1)
3. Tussey Mountain-Mitchell Hall-285-(16-2)
4. Richland-Mathew Moose-285-(8-0)
5. Cambria Heights-Aaron Gill-285-(11-1)
6. Jefferson Morgan-Ian Wolfe-285-(14-7)
7. Conemaugh Twp-Robert Mills-285-(10-6)
8. Bedford-Nate Shoemaker-285-(9-5)
Analysis: I truly feel like Buttry has an opportunity to finish in the top 3 at States this year if he keeps wrestling this well. The only true competition for him will be Selepack, and I expect that to be a great finals matchup barring any upsets. I have always liked Hall and he is a great wrestler, but he has just never been able to put it together against top competition, but I still expect a good showing from him.
I am sorry that my predictions were so long. I didn't mean for them to take up so much space.
I guess I will start the picks! Again, these are only my predictions and are not meant to put down any wrestler or team in any way. Wunder is a great wrestler and if he has to wrestle Holt in the semifinals, that should be a great match. Also, look for Winegardner to be a tough out, he has been wrestling very well this season.
220
1. West Branch-Reynold Maines-220-(21-0)
2. Chestnut Ridge-Dan Albright-220-(18-1)
3. Blairsville-Luke White-220-(19-4)
4. Berlin-Mitchell Walker-220-(13-5)
5. North Star-Levi Albright-220-(18-5)
6. Northern Bedford-Eric Grace-220-(12-4)
7. Bedford-Chance Williams-220-(11-5)
8. Penn Cambria-Seth McLendon-220-(6-2)
Analysis: Another highly competitive weight class. I feel pretty confident in the finals being Maines vs Albright, and I think it will be a great match to watch. After that, it is up in the air. Walker lost to Levi Albright, then beat him, and lost to Dan Albright in SV. Levi Albright beat Grace, and then lost to Williams, but Grace beat Williams. If you actually followed that mess, then you may agree with me that predicting 3-7 is almost impossible.
285
1. Chestnut Ridge-Austin Buttry- 285-(15-0)
2. West Branch-Morgan Selepack-285-(15-1)
3. Tussey Mountain-Mitchell Hall-285-(16-2)
4. Richland-Mathew Moose-285-(8-0)
5. Cambria Heights-Aaron Gill-285-(11-1)
6. Jefferson Morgan-Ian Wolfe-285-(14-7)
7. Conemaugh Twp-Robert Mills-285-(10-6)
8. Bedford-Nate Shoemaker-285-(9-5)
Analysis: I truly feel like Buttry has an opportunity to finish in the top 3 at States this year if he keeps wrestling this well. The only true competition for him will be Selepack, and I expect that to be a great finals matchup barring any upsets. I have always liked Hall and he is a great wrestler, but he has just never been able to put it together against top competition, but I still expect a good showing from him.
I am sorry that my predictions were so long. I didn't mean for them to take up so much space.

Re: Thomas tournament
I expect Easter, Thomas and Brett all to be down 1 weight. I think Crouse will be down too. I expect Bollman and Dibert to switch weights and Albright to be dropping. Just thoughts on some Bedford and CR kids. Thomas usually shows you where people are going to be for the post season.
