Ryan- Thanks for your personal answer. I will check out your blogs. My real beef is why the local rag here does not see fit to report anything that happens east of the Allegheny Ridge, unless like Thomas, its the only thing going on.

Manfred, The Tribune-Democrat would love to have Bedford County scores in our paper every day, but we rely on the schools to get us those scores. Unfortunately, not all of them realize that readers like you want to see their scores and they don't report them to us.

In most cases, the farther a school is from Johnstown, the less likely it is to call us with results. We run into the same problems in southern Somerset County as we do in Bedford County. The coaches don't feel it's necessary to call us.

We cover 30-plus schools, so when you factor in boys' and girls' basketball, wrestling, rifle, swimming, hockey and junior high events, we easily have the potential to have 50 or more events going on any given night. It's hard to track down scores for all of them, so the ones that don't report them to us usually get lost in the shuffle.

I try not to respond to criticism on message boards, because it usually doesn't do any good. I know there will always be people unhappy with our product, but yours seemed like a genuine question that deserved a genuine answer.

Hope this explains it to you. If you have any other questions, please feel free to contact me directly at [email protected].

Eric, thats the WHOLE problem in a nutshell. We have modern conveniences for people to be in touch from everywhere, and too many social media sites to name, but nobody wants to report even simple scores to a news source. Too much bother. Thank you for your input.
