JuanUribe - you bring up an interesting point about "full body of work" I'd be curious what the total win/loss of all the teams would be, i.e. Ferndale, BV, etc.

Re: D6 A playoff teams predictions
Lincoln Park is far and away the best team in the PIAA A western bracket, and they will be for the next 2 seasons at least. I have seen them play several times this season.
They have a freshman 2 guard named Maverick Rowan who is 6'5" and shoots a ridiculously high %age from 3pt range, averaging around 20ppg. Not great off the dribble from what I saw, but good enough to get it done at the class A level.
Ryan Skovranko is a 6'5" junior who also plays the 2/3 positions very well and is averaging around 15ppg. A quality, fundamentally sound player.
Jaylynn Cottrell is a big bodied 6'4" 235 senior forward who gives them some athletic muscle around the hoop.
The X factor for LP is Elijah Minnie who was just ruled eligible by the PIAA a few weeks ago. He is 6'8" and slightly built, but has a great touch from the outside as well as around the basket. He rarely posts up offensively and prefers to roam the perimeerr and slash to the basket, However, defensively he presents a real presence in the post, not because he's strong, but because of his length and active nature. His length is more like a player who is close to 7'0" tall.
Although they lack a high quality PG, LP can oversome that with a cast of exotic players who you just don't see in western PA class A HS basketball. They simply throw over the top of any ball pressure they encounter. To be blunt, they are not a really deep team, but their starting lineup is more exotic that the bar scene from Star Wars as western PA class A basketball goes. You simply do not see their type of athleticism, length, and skill. This team has 3 guys with guard skills who are 6'5", 6'5", and 6'8", and a big bodied 6'4" athlete in the post to give them a physical presence. LP would be a nightmare matchup for the Shades, Bishop Carrolls/Guilfoyles, etc. or for any District 5 or 6 team at any classification for that matter. If you pressure this team, they will throw over the top, if you play zone, Rowan may hit 12 threes, if you play man, they will kill you in the post, and if you play junk, they'll exploit it because they have more than just 1-2 really good players. A nightmare.
LP has been competitive with several AAAA teams this season, and I feel that this team could win WPIAL A, AA, or even AAA this season. They would be a playoff team in any WPIAL AAAA section, and likely a top 8 seed in WPIAL AAAA with their current team.
To me, the only way that LP loses to a class A team from Districts 5, 6, 9, or 10 or the WPIAL for that matter is if they beat themselves...With that said, in a one and done scanario such as the PIAA tornament, the best/most talented team does not always win...
An untimely injury, a cold shooting night, foul trouble, a long bus ride, an airtight execution of a deliberate game plan by an underdog team that happens to shoot 70% from the field, could all happen in a 1-and-done scenario.

And in the east there is Math, Civics and Sciences. 6-8, 6-7, 6-6, 6-5 and 6-2 starting, all are being recruited heavily. LP versus MCS in the single A state finals.
Re: D6 A playoff teams predictions
Who would've thought a performing arts school would have such a great basketball team.

Re: D6 A playoff teams predictions
Wilson. What do you mean by games left that count? Don't they all count?
Re: D6 A playoff teams predictions
No, not in District 6.....Up to and including games played on February 7th.
Re: D6 A playoff teams predictions
how can Juniata Valley and W'burg have 64 points each after 18 games and be different in point average? or is it supposed to be the same average?

Re: D6 A playoff teams predictions
JV has more wins over larger schools (AA 6 JV - 4 Wbrg) than Wbg, thus JV gets the nod in total points. Neither team gets any bonus points for beating a team over.700 as of 7 Feb.

Re: D6 A playoff teams predictions
check that
JV has 5 wins over a AA or better schools (and possibly a 6th with a win over WB) Wbrg has 4 wins over AA schools. You get an extra bonus point for each win over a AA school (regardless of record) and an additional 2 points for a win over any school with a percentage of .700 or better. Neither team has a win over any team that as of 7-Feb will be .700 or better.
