Sorry to offend you, you must be the most righteous man walking the earth, we have loud-mouth people every where you go, every walk of life, and we accept this has the norm, People bad mouth our soldiers for doing their jobs, the police for doing their jobs, they criticize everything and everyone and we accept it, because it is their right. Thats whats wrong with our so called culture. PAYING 5 bucks gives you the right to bash the snot out of someone you never meet, and make the COMPETITION less enjoyable for all.

You have to admit that some fans are funny. It does hit a point of annoying when they complain constantly. Some of the things they say are hilarious, maybe not at that moment... But you have to laugh looking back at some things. I laugh at the larger lady from portage that sits in the second row and yells unfair and call it both ways the entire game, the Italian looking guy from Ferndale that has wise comments and inappropriate gestures to the other teams kid sections - have seen him tossed on more than one occasion. The really load mouth from shade that is always chirping at the coaches, refs and whoever would listen. You wonder why kids act the way that they do? We all need to set a better example. Be proud of your kids for playing. Be happy for them when they do well. Don't be an idiot and set a poor example for them, your school and your community.

growaset we are in agreement 100% that there are idiots all around us everyday and everywhere. I choose not to publicize them nor do I even take the time to admonish them. They are stupid in their own design, old enough to know better, and nothing I or you could say will change that. On the other side of the coin, if an official is bad, and they do exist unfortunately, then they deserve what they get from the bleachers, alah replacement refs this year in the NFL. We are really on the same page except fans need to be allowed to be fans. Thanks for the dialog

true story from a friend. He went to a Yankees game in Cleveland. A-Rod is coming up to the plate (on desk) Big Big dude with a yankees emblem circled with the big red circle and slash on a big black leather jacket with a booming voice yells out. "Hey ARod, Dippin into Giambi's medicine cabinet !!" ARod doesn't even acknowledge, gets up to the plate and sends first pitch into the left field bleachers. ARod as he is touching home plate points up to the crowd to the big mouth with a grin. That wasnt the big mouths day :)

I think we are on the same page, not sure where it went south, people have the right to voice their opinions just like we are doing. We have all seen and heard the ones that need to shut up. People take it to far and make it to personal over just a GAME, I agree that the kids are playing to win. But to many people are trying to relive their failures on the playing field through their kids. Did you ever ask a kid whos parents act that way if the are embarrassed?? I officiated for fifteen years and once had a player ask me during a time out if i could throw his dad out. When i told him not unless he did something drastic no, I then ask him why, he proceeded to tell me he was embarrassed by the way he screamed and carried on, always yelling about calls, complaining about refs, people did move away from him, but they still knew who he was and who's kid was his.

d6footballfan wrote:Somehow growaset seems to think that bad officiating is acceptable and the norm. I too took the test and officiate games. I also can ignore peoples criticisms especially when they are not warranted, but most importantly if they want a debate on any of my calls, I can back them up with facts because I take the time to get the calls right. I also know the rules and I get in the position to make the right calls. Most importantly don't exercise any favoritism to any school, player or league, period. I too pay to get into watch games my kids play in, I never officiate with a conflict of interest at hand, and if I want to call out a missed or bad call as a fan, that is my prerogative. If you don't like it growaset then sit somewhere else and do your thing, what ever it is.
Really!!! You think highly of yourself as an official. Makes me wonder if you were mentioned in the "officiating" forum. The only thing worse than a biased parent screaming at an official is another official screaming at an official.

Every ref gets paid to do their "job". Fans pay to attend the games. Therefore, fans are customers, and the customer is always right! If you can't handle the heat, get out of the kitchen. And one last time - please don't use the "I suck, so why don't you take the test and see if you can do better" defense.

What officials don't get is that parents sacrifice a lot for their kids to play sports. Most kids have aspirations to advance to the next level. Even though most will fail, all deserve a chance to compete in a fair contest. When those contests are compromised by sub-par officiating, those responsible deserve criticism. Just for once I would like to see these so-called "dedicated" officials do games for free. Then, and only then will I trust their motives and withhold criticism. 99% of the people in this world pay out of their own pocket to enjoy their hobbies - but not officials. They get paid.

d6footballfan: I still like a lot of points you make. It just struck me as out of character for you to "toot" your own officiating horn. Hopefully, you're on my good ref list that no one seems to be adding to. If you're not on it, go ahead and add yourself. While you are there, let me know you think about the names on it.
