They won't see each other until regionals not districts. One is d-6 and the other is d-5.Based on common opponents,I'd say Shaffer did catch him, they appear to be pretty even.I'm not saying Shaffer wouldn't have won anyway, just they are alot closer than some may have realized.

Getting caught is no sin, it happens. I would be more worried if he had been teched.

But a good kid has got to be able to get off his back. If not, he is just an incomplete wrestler. Not that Sal is an incomplete wrestler. I did not see the match so I can't say. But if you guys remember Thad Walstrom from Mo Valley: He was an excellent wrestler, but if he was put on his back, he got pinned.

I can't recall how many times Walstrom was beating my brother and Justie just hit a side roll and decked him.

I have been caught on my back a few times and depending on the situation, it can be very constricting. I do not know how Sal got there, but a tight headlock and lack of oxygen would make a lot of skilled, excellent wrestlers quit and save themselves for another day.

These two are both quality wrestlers. Anyone can be beaten at any given time. It is classless to try to take credit away from someone like Shaffer. I give him credit for pinning a state-caliber wrestler. However, from what I've seen, I would have to take Lascari in the rematch. My opinion doesn't mean anything, but I think Sal is the better wrestler. My congratulations go out to Brett Shaffer.

I didn't mean to take anything away from Shaffer if it sounded as if I was. You may be referring to basketball101, but you have to excuse the basketball players. But, also, it sounds to me that Shaffer isn't as proven as Sal. And Dep, "save yourself for another day"? In my mind, that automatically makes a person not a "wrestler"! I can say that there was absolutely no point in my life, from age 3 to age 19, that I ever just "quit and saved myself for another day." You could cut off my leg and beat me with the bloody stump and I still would have went balls to the wall. If I would have given up when things got too tough or even my health was in danger, I never would have won regionals my sophomore year or medaled at states. Both matches I ran into dangerous situations. Five seconds into my match at states I received a concussion, but continued to wrestler a 7.5 minute match until complete exhaustion. I never felt worse in my life: hyperventilating and puking. Sound crazy or stupid to risk your health? Like I always say, "Few can bear an entire season, even less an entire career, and only the craziest choose to make a life of it!" That's wrestling!

the kid that pinned him was last years iowa state champ or illinois one of the two states but he was built like a brick s***house

one time i missed an ankle pic, slipped, ended up having the kid in a headlock and pinned him in 19 but the abillity level was not nearly there (he was from ligoneer valley)

lascari

For all of the wrestlers out there. Let me clarify something. Lascari got pinned yesterday and kudos to the Shaffer kid from Central Cambria. Let me give you a little history lesson. Jason Betz from Warrior Run, a 3 time state champion got caught in the semis at states from a kid from Pine-Richland. Betz had enough class to finish out the state tournament finishing 3rd. Just last year Strayer from Forest Hills got caught opening night at states. He also had enough class finishing the tournament in 3rd. Sal Lascari will learn from this and I strongly encourage wrestlers to wrestle the best. It doesn't matter how many wins you have but where you end up at the end of the year. Thats what makes wrestling soooo much better than any other sport. Adapt, Adjust, and Overcome!!!
