Balance in the Sideling Hill League...
Southern Fulton 6 2 10 3
Chestnut Ridge 5 2 6 6
Tussey Mountain 5 2 7 6
Everett 5 3 8 5
McConnellsburg 5 3 9 5
Forbes Road 4 3 8 5
Fannett-Metal 3 3 6 6
Northern Bedford 1 8 1 13
Hyndman 0 7 2 9
*For reference, I am currently playing on the Hyndman Boys Basketball team, so that will explain some of my comments in this topic.*
At the moment we have played every team in the league at least once, with the exception of Ridge, and by far the best team we played seems to be Everett. They were the only team we really didn't put up much of a fight against, and although Southern Fulton ended up blowing us out, we were winning after the first quarter and close at halftime.
Now after playing Everett and seeing how well they played, I was suprised to see them lose to several other teams. It seems to me that on any given night, any team in the division has a chance of winning.
Does anyone have any insight as to why so many teams seem to be playing so sporadically from game to game and day to day?

It's a mystery....I've been following this league since it's inception in the late 70's and I've never been this far off in where I thought teams would be and where they are in relation to the standings. And, it's not like there have been any intangibles...suspensions, major injuries, players quitting, etc. either (Except for Zimmerman not playing in TM @ McC game). Everyone is playing with a full deck and beating each other. Coming into the season I would have guessed Everett winning it at about 15-1 or 14-2 and S.Fulton second at 12 or 13 wins, then Tussey with McConnellsburg right there too. I am baffled an have no explanation. There will always be upsets but this league has had five years worth of those already in a little over half one league season!
I saw Everett vs. NB on Friday. I saw TM vs. Juniata Valley Saturday. Everett played well enough to beat NB but something seemed to be missing. Everett did not seem to any jump in their legs. TM had some problems handling JV 20 press early in the game. JV jumped out to a ten point lead. The two team battled evenly the rest of the game. TM made the game very close late in the game by out hustling JV. Great game.
Right now I would have to favor Southern Fulton. Followed by Tussey then Everett. Before the season started, I thought it would Everett's year. It is not too late for them to turn it around.
