HAHA, WOW. Go back to worshiping your god and his statue. Keep telling yourself that there was no culture problem. Now I know what Titan is talking about with "brainwashed nitters."

Can't wait for the day that people start saying the same thing about the McCort people. They said their head coach was the scapegoat when he got fired. How does anybody know what he knew and looked the other way? Does anybody have a video of the meeting at the Richland Fire Hall so that both scandals can be equally discussed??

Look there are going to be people that defend Paterno to death even if it came out tomorrow he was in the shower with Jerry and the boys. There are also people that would demonize him if it came out tomorrow that he called the policy, CYS, and every other law enforcement agency trying to stop Jerry. Then there are those of us that can be realisitic about the situation and sit somewhere in the middle. IMO, the biggest error Paterno played in this entire thing was being the head football coach of a $60 Million revenue producing football team in his late 70s and 80s. His selfishness led to him not being at his best judgement. Do I think a 38, 45, 52, or even 65 year old Paterno would have handled this situation they way he did? Hell No.

My grandmother is 79 years old which is around the age of Paterno during this and she spent her entire life in the food service industry. She was head cook for high schools, hospitals, resorts, and even prisons. She, at 79, can still cook like she could her entire life and make the most amazing dishes (I know we all say that about our grandmothers). But the point is she is still very good at what she does. Now could she still manage the number of employees she managed at those establishments, deal with changing food service regulations, work budgets to match expenses with income, deal with the management of businesses, attend food conventions, and so on. NO. Can she still cook with the anyone, yes.

This is where Paterno's downfall came in at. He could still coach and prepare a competitive team in his late 70s and early 80s. He just was mentally incapable of dealing with recruiting, changing NCAA or University protocol, the media, the econmics of running a team, player discipline, managing a staff, and so on. Realistic Penn State fans could see it coming. I figured it would be something he did to a player, reporter, or official during the course of a game or interview that did him in but he was never going to leave. To be honest, it was hard to wish for an illness but that was the only way I seen him leaving without it being very ugly.

He did not get the benefit of doubt with the media, university, or NCAA on this issue because he cut them all out late in his coaching career. He had no relationship or anyone to go to that would stand behind him because he cut them out slowly over the last 20 years and did things his way. He just wanted to "coach his team" but the problem was a head coach in college football doesn't just coach a team. That is the easy part.

He did great things for his players, college football, the state, Penn State, and State College. His selfness and stobborn attitude ruined his legacy. I am still appreciate for his service and what he did for my university. I can see why people on the outside look at him as a phony though.

I don't get why some of you guys are responding to obvious trolls like WPIAL. We get it, you hate Penn State, you hate Paterno. You hated both before the scandal and have afterwards. That's no reason to make up your own facts. Also the entire football culture at PSU stuff is total bullshit and you know that as well as I. How do you have a win at all cost mentality yet suspend players for important games for skipping class? Or maintain 80-90% graduation rates? Sorry just doesn't hold up. Also stating Sarah Ganim as a hero is laughable.
