....As far as my math is concerned, I never said PSU only had 2 draftees. I said PSU was going gaga over two linebackers taken late in the draft. BWI was back to it's praise for Linebacker U. WOW!!!! ESPN all-Amercan linebacker Mauti lasted all the way to the 7th round. Really something to be proud of.
....Personally, I could care less if Pitt players are drafted, or if Pitt players are in the NFL. I mean it's nice, but as a fan, so what. It's the NITS who are fixated on stuff like that. Like a said, the latest BIG headlines on Gopsusports were Wally Richardson taking over the PSU player alumni association, and the late linebacker pick-ups in the draft. STILL hardly anything on Steve Bench, Ackerman and Alosa. You know, just roster changes for the respective teams. Happens everywhere, right? ....On the first day of the PSU coaches bus caravan at the PSU-Berks Campus in Reading, BO'B was asked about his post-spring evaluations that led to the departure of starting quarterback candidate Steven Bench. ....As a closet PSU fan, I am deeply troubled with how Penn State football recruiting is going. Today, BO'B picked up his 8th and 9th recruits for the 2014 season. What this boils down to is, since he has only 15 scholarships to give out, 60% of his scholarships have been given away to players who won't be playing a down of football in their senior year for another 3 months. Kind of risky, isn't it? Not only may these players NOT live up to expectations as seniors, but PSU may miss out on some up and coming seniors who are about to blossom this year. With only 6 scholarships left, I think PSU will miss out on getting some real good players who area about to show the football world how good they really are. Of course, BO'B can always "have a talk" with some of his non-starters and explain to them that they may not ever play a down for Penn State. Hey, it worked on Steve Bench, didn't it?
....As far as the two newest recruits are concerned, safety Marcus Allen had originally planned to wait a few months before deciding on his college future. It seems, however, that he changed his mind about waiting, when he learned from the Nittany Lion coaching staff that they were potentially "running low" on scholarships. I'm telling you guys, BO'B is a real shyster. Tell the kid that he should make a move soon, or good luck ending up somewhere else. Talk about a real conniver. I hope this doesn't backfire on BO'B, as some potentially better DB's thinking about PSU may now consider looking elsewhere.
....And as far as the Wrangler kid is concerned, BO'B may have jumped the gun offering this kid this early. Rivals has him as a 2 star recruit, with NO ranking at his position. When you have only 15 scholarships to give out, you CAN'T be giving out schollies to 2 star players. You can if you have 25, but NOT with only 15. And, other than Michigan State, Wrangler has only 8 other offers, mainly to MAC schools. Offers were extended by Bowling Green, Buffalo, Cincinnati, Eastern Michigan, Ohio, Toledo, Western Michigan, and Yale. It's not a real COUP when you steal a guy from these other schools, especially when you have only a few schollies to offer.
....So YES I am concerned about BO'B's recruiting. And with only 6 offers left for 2014, they BETTER be good ones.

And, as a closet PSU fan, something disturbing happened today in PSU football. Highly regarded Pittsburgh Central Catholic QB J. J. Consentino has already issued a verbal commitment to the University of Florida. Well, anyway, today BO'B offered him a scholarship to Penn State. Is that what we want from a head coach? You guys remember how we all hated it when some Illinois coaches came snooping around in State College after our players were allowed to leave PSU after the sanctions. We didn't like it at all. Now WE are trying to steal a kid from Florida who has already committed to that school. I don't like this one bit. It's like trying to steal a girl from a guy, when the couple is engaged to be married. What kind of cad would do a thing like this? I'm beginning to think that BO'B is not the guy who exemplifies the standards we have set at Penn State. The sooner he leaves, the better.
