Legion baseball

Post by pas2326100 »

With 1 day left before the state imposed $200 dollar penalty for not registering your team, Pa. Legion baseball is down 57 teams from last years total. Wonder how much going to wooden bats has played into this. Love wooden bats but with the huge expense that is already incurred in fielding a team, curious how many teams just couldnt raise the additional thousand to fifteen hundred dollars necessary. Still dont understand there reasoning when the national and every other state is using BBCOR.

After a 2 year haitus, Nanty-Glo said they had 14 kids interested in playing. Now, within the past week or so, they said they were NOT fielding a team this year. It would have been a nice, balanced 12 team league, with 3 4- team divisions, which would have made traveling less involved for everyone concerned. Now, with 11 teams, the schedules have to be changed, alignments changed, more travel, etc. Some areas famine, like Nanty-Glo, and some teams feast, like Bedford, that had to -CUT- 16 kids. Must be nice to draw from the whole frickin' county.
It ain't over until it's over.

The more things change the more they stay the same. Its been 40 years of Bedford fielding one county all-star team, all the while opposing any attempts to cut down their zone.
