For a few years now I've thought pro sports (MLB nfl in particular), have used the dl/ir as A tool to discretely handle some discipline / suspension issues for PR reasons. How many high school, college and NFL football players are on steroids or HGH? You just don't get to be 270 pounds with 0% body fat eating cafeteria food. Not to mention coming back from injuries like a torn triceps muscle in four weeks.
