Heritage Conference week 5 preview

Post by konjo78 »

A new week starts in heritage. A new team will win this week!!! Lets Start with rankings.

1. Homer Center - Very strong showing. Biggest test of the year so far coming this year.

2. Penns Manor- when your total yards given up for the year decreases from week 3 to week 4 you have a great defense. One more easier week before life gets tough

3. Ligonier - Huge challange this week against a good winber team will help me get a better read on an inconsitent team.

4. Blairsville - Were able to get past northern. Unfortunately lfie will not get easier as they are now getting the treatment marion center got at beginning of the year.

5. Northern cambria - Another close loss for the colts probably eliminates them from playoffs. Hard to believe this early something like that can happen. they are playing for pride now.

6. Marion Center - They have had the toughest beginning schedule of any team. They have looked jsut below the level of the top 4 but better than the other teams.

7. Purchase Line - Lost to a very good homer center team. Not much to take away but they were able to hang in early.

8. Saltsburg - played a really tight game against North Star. They will look for win one this week.

9. United - Every since the playoffs in 2009 penns manor is the bane of united. It showed last week.

Predictions for this weeks games.
Saltsburg 35 United 14
Purchase Line 28 Northern cambria 21
Penns Manor 28 marion Center 14
Winber 35 Ligonier 28

Game of the week
Homer Cener 35 Blairsville 14 - The beginning of the end of blairsville's playoff hopes begin friday. with portage, and penns manor on their schedule soon the bobcats will start to fall out of the playoffs

1. Saltsburg united had the most entertaining game ddspite their records.
2. Ligonier escaped, wont win in playoffs.
3. Blairsville is not same team without Thompson.
4. Homer center passes 2nd test.
5. Northern just played all the wrong teams at wrong time.
6. Penns manor improve every week.

Homer Center is ridiculously solid and could honestly make a run for D6A this year, my pick to win the Heritage by far.

Blairsville, Ligonier, Marion Center, And NC are all really in the same boat in that their records do not indicate what kind of team they are. MC has played literally everyone tough up until PM this week. Ligonier is more consistent than Blairsville, but does not show enough promise to do much of anything in the playoffs this year. Blairsville had close games in every single one of their first 4 weeks and then got destroyed by Homer this week, which says a lot about both teams.

Northern looked good against PL with their starting QB out, and even with the one of the papers (I can't remember which) picking PL over Northern 3-2, and konjo and a few others picking NC to lose. NC had a shutout until they started playing JV players in the late 3rd quarter and let PL score on a big play, which accounted for over 3/4 of their total yards on the ground. People also forget NC only lost to a VERY GOOD PM team by 1 during the first game of the season. NC needs to win out to make it to playoffs, and their biggest game on that streak is coming up this week with Berlin.

PM is rolling and not much I can say, their schedule gets a lot more difficult towards the end of the year but I'm assuming they'll make playoffs and even possibly homefield advantage.

Very nice post. Next week is a game which will tell us how good Penns manor is. Blairsville can win if pm has really benefitted from a good schedule. If the pm line and defense plays as well as they are hyped up to be this also can be a blowout

I'm gonna go with a 35-14 game in favor of PM. Blairsville's line is their weak point and they are also missing Scott Thompson. Deion Robinson is one hell of a runner, and accounted for almost all of their yards against NC. Special teams hurt NC really bad last week at Blairsville with 2 fumbles on punt returns, missed extra points and a near 80-yard kickoff return. If PM plays sound, technical football like they have the first couple weeks they'll have no problem with Blairsville.

I hope we can see both hc and pm go undefeated through season. I believe they play each other in the 9th game. That would be one great must see game.
