I don't think a 20-14 loss to Northern was not as bad as you are making it sound. Both defenses played extremely well except for against the pass. That game was decided with about 6 minutes left by a dumb throw from a first year senior quarterback/athlete on a 4th down in Northern territory on his way to being sacked that ended up being a pick six. I don't see how that loss is so bad.

just to clarify green machine....konjo is an old penns manor guy, not from homer or Blairsville. I know that both of those teams respect what portage did last year, and know they are just as good or better this year....

Also GreenMachine, Portage does have a lot returning but they lost a lot of spirit, tackles, and blocking in Cody Kephart. They also lost a very good downhill and pass coverage safety in Evan Price. The loss of these two key players has hurt the Stangs a whole lot.

The HC team that Portage beat last year is basically all back and better than last year, all those linemen are a year bigger and stronger. Newhouse is tough as nails as long as he stays healthy. They lost the Neely kid who was a playmaker, but just about everyone else is back.

Out of PM and HC, which one has a better chance a beating Bellwood? Is Bellwood as good as last year? I know they have a loss already and they still play Richland. Can any class A team in the Heritage win Districts this year?

I don't think anyoe has the horses to beat Bellwood, but I haven't seen HC or PM so maybe it is just bias. I will say I was surprised when PM beat Bellwood so badly a couple of years ago, so anything is possible.

Right now I would say homer center. But Penns manor has the most dangerous thing, a very very good front game. Their offense and defensive lines are the core to their success and are probably the best in the heritage and potentially D6. Hc is the more complete team at the moment it appears. There is no danny ferens though at either of those schools. He just made things happen out of no where 80% of the time.

Both teams will only go as far as their lines will take them. HC and PM both have big, physical, and athletic lines. Should be an interesting week 9.
