Heritage conference week 9 preview
Well any conference love when the last week of play brings about a Championship game. Heritage has that priveledge this year. Lets start with rankings.
1. Homer Center - They are the most complete team the heritage has had since atleast 2008 Purchase line. Dominated Ligonier Valley at home last week.
2. Penns Manor - almost got caught in a game agaisnt Purchase line. As an alumni that makes me mad.... there was a time PL game meant someting no matter the records of the teams. The comets dishonered that rivalry last week.
3. Ligonier valley - their line just was not strong enough this year to have them win the heritage. Huge disappointment to Ligonier fans i am sure.
4. Blairsville - Heatlhy and ready to make their ways to D6A playoffs.
5. Northern cambria - they feel if they win their in. If they play like its their last games on the field, which it should be, maybe a fairytale miracle will happen for this school that has gone through a lot this year.
6. Purchase Line - They came to play against Penns Manor. They could of won that game.
7. Marion Center - They just do not know how to close games. It showed again this week when they dominated shade but still lost. Sad year for stinger fans.
8. Saltsburg - they keep playing hard but just not that strong
9. They hope to get a win this week but it'll be hard. Next week they are a warm up game for Bishop Guilfoyle.
Week 9 Predictions
United over marion Cener 21-20
Ligonier over northern Cambria 28-20
Purchase line over saltsburg - 25-14
Portage over Blairsville 35-34
Game of the week
Homer Center over penns manor 28-24.

Re: Heritage conference week 9 preview
I saw the United JV team is (5-1-1) this year with mostly freshmen and sophomores. Should be interesting to see how things shake out next year with a very big junior class coming back as well. A win could go a long way right now for the Lions.

Re: Heritage conference week 9 preview
Agree lion dad. Coming from Penns Manor and our history the past 10 years winning just a little means a lot. I feel that 2008 Penns Manor team was better than 2009, 2010, and 2013 and yet we just didn't know how to win close games until that season.
Re: Heritage conference week 9 preview
I agree too with LionDad...would love to see United football come back to the glory days...nobody wanted the play them in the 80's and early 90's, now everyone wants them for there Homecoming game...they have really nice facilities, now they need to field a competitor...hope the JV schedule pays off for them next year...

Re: Heritage conference week 9 preview
It was't that long ago that united was a top conference team. Winning the heritage in 2009
Re: Heritage conference week 9 preview
I know, but they were dominate year after year back then...I know they were AA then but they are still a pretty big A school...hope they turn it around...that's all I'm saying...
Re: Heritage conference week 9 preview
2009 and 2010 (I believe) United had very good teams, as in most a school just loosing a few kids goes a long way... I saw a few posts where people laughed about BM being down this season... It only takes a few kids moving in there over the summer and they are right back at the top.... But United does appear to be improving along with purchase line dragons as the season progresses

Take always from last night
1. Homer center is the right team to win. Forcing turnovers all night! Congrats wildcats!
2. Penns manor could still drive the ball on homer but gave up too many big plays.
3. great sportsmanship from last night. Everyone helping each other up, a couple late hits called but none that were intentionality trying to hurt someone.
4. Northern Cambria is the team that won't say no! What a great roller coaster story for this team!
5. Ligonier has lost 3 big games in a row. And with bloom and fennel getting hurt their playoff hopes may be over....
6. Blairsville choked in a huge game. Couldn't punch it in and let portage run them over.
7. Purchase line, Marion center, united and saltsburg will be better teams next year and the conference will be more balanced 1-9
