Moral Questions

Re: Moral Questions
This situation must be fabricated to some degree. I don't see how any coach could encourage his players to take cheap shots during a game. Sure, players are kids, and will always do childish things during the course of an emotionally charged contest. But for an adult to reward or encourage that type of behavior, I find very hard to believe. I could understand the kids wanting to take out another team's best player, but in a clean, hard-hitting manner. In my experience as a player, the cheap shots and trash-talking were always given by teams that were losing or had a losing tradition. That's what loser's do. But I highly doubt that their coaches were involved.
Re: Moral Questions
Teams take on the character of their coaches. Upstanding coaches do not tolerate such antics and punish violators so kids get the message that it isn't acceptable. Don't kid yourself, there are plenty of questionable character adults coaching athletics.

Story behind kicker was a Top 5 qb in the country. This is a rivalry game.

This happened a few years ago. Do you know if he ended up being a big-time college player?

He's the starting qb for byu right now! He went on his two year mission, originally was signed to Stanford but decided to go to his religious school.
