North Catholic vs Clarion #PIAAfootball

Post by Coach »

Both 14-0.

Game at Dubois next Friday night.

Can Clarion continue the great run they've been on?

Wow, both of the top two backs for Clarion average over 10 yards per carry!!

Slike 12.8
Corbett 15.02

Ridiculous numbers right there.

I feel bad, Coach, you're talking to yourself.

I'm pretty high on this Clarion team. I like what they do offensively with Silke and Corbett, plus Cody Hearst at receiver. My only concern is that they have blown out teams all year, and up until last week they have not had to play a complete game. I don't know that their competition has prepared them well enough for North Catholic. Look at Port Allegany last year: huge numbers all year against District 9 competition, a test in the PIAA quarterfinals, and then they were blown out by Clairton. I don't think that this North Catholic team is anywhere near as good as Clairton, but I think they have been tested throughout their season, unlike the Bobcats.

Last week against Lakeview, Clarion gave up 225 yards to Blake Reddick, District 10's all-time leading rusher. Coupled with the four turnovers, I was surprised they pulled off the victory.

The Trojan's defense is top notch. They are only giving up an average of 10 points through 14 games. Clarion's offense will have to play to perfection after Lakeview brought them back down to earth. The same goes for their defense. This isn't Union-Rimersburg--they aren't scoring at will here. North Catholic's quarterback Fulmore can run, so can Turner and the freshman that burned Tussey last week, Latronica. I just don't know if Clarion can contain all three.

My gut tells me North Catholic by 2-3 scores, my heart says Clarion by 1 point. I'm a Bobcat fan this week, though, for sure.
