Re: Private Public School Debate
since 2010, catholic/charter schools in football have taken up 46% of the 16 semifinal playoff spots and 52% of the 8 final spots. This from schools that only make up 17.4% of all schools with football teams...in basketball the numbers are even more lopsided..so..it is GLARING. in MY opinion it should look more like private/charters 10% of semi teams and maybe 20%...but we don't have that do we?
Just as a side note on how unfair the rules are, Luke Spahits ran two kicks back for tds against berwick...Spahits transferred to Wood from Hatboro Horsham just before the season began. Runyan of St Josephs..wager a guess where he's from? NJ..where his dad is a congressman. Wouldn't it be nice if, say, some of the guys from NB or Tussey could do the same with Bellwood? or visa versa?

North Catholic's win in A this year was the first for a private school since 1989 and only the second title since the state playoffs began in 1988.

Re: Private Public School Debate
A is the only class with no problem UNTIL you look at the entire state playoff system
Re: Private Public School Debate
There is no problem just a lot of whining, most of it coming from A.

I wouldn't call wanting a fair playing field whining. BC has players from 5 schools. If I took the best players from 5 heritage Conference schools I guarantee they would beat BC, BG, and BM. I don't have kid's that play but I do feel bad for the ones that do have to play them. Any way you look at it the system is wrong.
You're only young once, but you can be immature forever!!!

Blueandwhite,
You have hit the nail on head! Do you think that the privates would complain if it was legal for PM to bring in players from HC, Blsv., Ligonier and United?

Just like a Portage, Forest Hills, Penn Cambria, Central Cambria group of players would be a fun combo as well in single A lol

Re: Private Public School Debate
Just to put it out there, BC in reality has all of their players from their feeder system. These kids that they have started from kindergarten in various parochial sch'ools on up to 12th grade because the parents wanted them to have a catholic education. They had no intention of going to a public school. A perfect example of this was when St Mary's in the BV School District closed alot of these kids went to HOLY NAME in Ebensburg not for sports but again the parents wanted them to have a catholic education. These 5 schools that you are talking about are BC's Elementary.YOU have to remember the parents pay to send their kids to BC and if it didn't cost so much they would be AA if not AAA. 98 to 99% of all these kids that are at BC came the whole way through that system. Keep in mind ,,before you say,yea but they have kids transfer in for sports you are talking 1 maybe 2 kids and sometimes they have other reasons. Also, know this, in any given year 3 or 4 transfer out and some are good athletes .Bottom line is these kids are all BC from K-12 >all this being said I know it won't change any minds because 90%of the people in this forum like to bash private schoolsBlueandwhitefan wrote:knowitall wrote:There is no problem just a lot of whining, most of it coming from A.
