Multi-Car teams made the sport much more competitive too. In the 60s, 70s, and 80s the same few drivers won week after week after week. Whereas today I could probably make an argument for 30 drivers of why they have a good chance to win Sunday or at least at some point this year.

FYI, for anyone looking to their first NHRA experience, the closest sanctioned National event is the first weekend of October, @ Maple Grove Raceway just south of Reading, Pa., just north of Bowmansdale, and between the 2 Reading turnpike exits. It's usually a 4 day event, starting Thursday, and the top qualifiers run their eliminations on Sunday. They usually start @ 11 AM, and are finished by 5 PM or so. It's cost for a ticket in the stands Sunday is $60, and as mentioned, you can walk ALL OVER the complex around all the cars and crews. The next closest track/ events are in Norwalk, Ohio, and Englishtown, NJ.

I have one question. Just about everyone I know that is a NASCAR fan feels the qualifying was rigged for the #3 to get the pole as a publicity stunt to increase the declining fan base. Any thoughts????

Eh poles at Daytona means nothing, though I think its too hard to be rigged with how close the laps are at Daytona. 1 slip and its obvious that you'll lose the 1-20 positions. I think RCR qualified poorly at last years Daytona 500 and this year didn't want that to happen again, most of their cars qualified top 6 if not all of them

I think by lap 5 Austin Dillon was in 19th place and Kyle Busch (who started 37th) was in the top 5. So if there was a "fix" in to get the 3 car on the poll, it had no impact on the race.

It's good for the sport when Junior wins races. He is a good guy and definitely moves the needle.

I don't know why they don't move the Daytona 500 to a night race. It is always so much more exciting compared to the middle of the afternoon when the track temperature is so hot none of the drivers are willing to try aggressive moves.

Tradition probably. But boy did that look like old pack racing from 10+ years ago. I'm not surprised at all junior won. He won the second half if the race and could just control two lanes in the Lead like no one else last night.

Interesting start to the year. Junior has 3 straight top 2 finishes. Brad keslowski has 3 straight top 3s. Kevin harvick had a car to beat again until hubcap issues and jimmy has been looking just a step behind.



Can anyone stop junion and brad next week at bristol?

Harvick has been strong at Bristol too. He had by far the best car again yesterday at a track he never had success at.
