Playoff Scores
Re: Playoff Scores
Just curious as to why that even matters considering all of them attended Catholic schools their entire lives. Mom and dad made that decision long ago.Hornet2424 wrote:I am from JV. Hats off to BC last night. They are a good team. Just curious as to where the 7-man rotation from BC live?
Re: Playoff Scores
I still cannot believe people (upnorth) feel that where they live does not matter. Single A public schools are so confined by geographic boundaries that limits who is in their lineup...All 'A' and 'AA' schools should be held to some type of boundary as well. Maybe determine the'home' public school of each athlete on the team....then have the **** to limit it to (3) public districts to remain 'A', even that would be unfair...maybe 7 to remain 'AA'...etc...lot of work, but an attempt to make it fairer...stupid, I know, but still a thought...
BG girls have what?..Altoona, Hollidaysburg, Central, Northern Bedford, I'm guessing ,....already too many for 'A'...

I guess what I'm having trouble understanding is how can you miss what you never had? If the kid never attended public school, what's the problem?
Lobby your state representatives if you want change. Whining on a message board accomplishes nothing.

Re: Playoff Scores
I just feel the problem is that there are just way too many SUPER A teams. And i really don't believe it is just a coincidence that most of them are private schools. That is where there is a problem. Yeah they have been going to private school all their life but most cases we see kids transferring to these schools so early. Its probably a bigger problem nationally too with sports.

Insert eye roll.
Ok, if it's a BC/BG championship game do all the schools that contributed players get a championship trophy???? That's a lot of trophy's!!!!

Until the Pinhead Idiotic Athletic Association gets a clue about the private schools, nothing will change. We all will still be rehashing this same topic again and again. At least Bishop McCort has a pair and plays AA.

Re: Playoff Scores
ok I cant resist. I have to post this because its absolutely the most mind blowing to sit and read this without totally blowing a gasket!
I am a Christian, I believe in God, Proud to say it, and I want to know how Christian is it to stack your team year in and year out for self gratification and calling yourselves champs by beating up on teams that don't have the same rules and opportunity that allow them to compete equally? Ask yourselves is this what Jesus would do??? Its a statistical impossibility that one small school out of 30+ averaging 80 kids per class can win or be second 6 out of 7 years in a row and competing for the exalted D6A trophy. Do the math/stats people: I dont care how smart you think you are, this stuff only happens because they have the means to skew that stats. PERIOD!!!. The "they just happened to make those decisions years ago" excuse is code for which ever private school program is most enticing and where it makes the best and most opportunity for my kid. They exercise their freedom of choice to send their kids to any school they wish, OF WHICH I SUPPORT FULLY!! If your really interested to continuously improve yourselves and challenge and build your kids, then what is the gain to stay in A ball year in and year out and claim victory and full satisfaction?? Then to have to sit and listen to those glutton supporters in the stands when they are getting they're gratification is without words to express. Its time for those who think this private school miracle that only occurs at our few select Bishop schools in D6A to come back to earth and get in touch with reality. Why doesn't this same phenomena occur at our other small Christian schools in our district? Its because they're values are in the right place. PLEASE SOMEONE GIVE ME A STUPID **** EXPLANATION LIKE THE REST OF THE LOAD OF CRAP I AM READING ON THIS POST; I'D LOVE TO READ IT, LAUGH, AND THEN PRAY FOR YOUR SOULS!!!

Let's not start a holy war on here. Can we get a new section on bleacher coaches we can put it below college and pro sports we can make it religion/recruiting.
Re: Playoff Scores
Against my better judgment I'm going to weigh in on the public/private topic in what is hopefully a well thought out and reasonable way. I believe that private schools do have an advantage over public schools in that they can draw from a wider geographic area than can a small public school. I think this is much more prevalant in our area in girls basketball as opposed to boys (case in point is the ridiculous amount of players that have come in to BG's program over the past several years).
However, I don't believe it is reasonable to paint every private school or program with the same broad brush. In the case of BC if all their players came up through their program from an elementary school age, I don't believe that gives them a huge advantage over a public school team that has all their players from their own system in a similar way. Although if they are from a wide geographic area, it does negate that argument to some degree.
I'm a little more familiar with the BG program (Full disclosure-I have a nephew who is the junior high system now) and I know similarly every one of their players over the last few years came up through their system and has attended private school throughout. In addition, all of these players live within a reasonable proximity of the school (within 7-8 miles I believe) which is similar to a public school. I guess what I'm saying is that I think sometimes when a publc school loses to a private it is easy just to go to "they recruit" mantra when in fact it may be they have a very good group of players who've been together a while. I also think locally it really helps BC/BG to be playing in the LHAC which is year in and year out a very tough league. Playing those games is very helpful come playoff time (it also is helpful to BM although their enrollment puts them in AA where the advantage of scheduling may not be quite as pronounced).
I understand the argument of a fan from a public school in particular when you are forced to play against a team that has players that recently came in to a private school or has multiple players who have done so. There is no way that situation is a level playing field and I'm not sure what the solution is to make it so. I guess all I'm saying is I try to look at it on a team by team basis and some situations require a little more thought than to just say "they recruit" and lump every team in to the same category without at least considering the makeup of the team and the work everyone involved with it has done. All the players work hard, public and private and while we debate this topic what seem like every year, I sometimes think that gets lost.
As for bringing religion in to the argument and judging how a person involved in any program should feel about what they do, my opinion is that is way out of bounds. Every coach works hard for his team and I believe most/all are doing it for the right reasons. I for one think that no matter if you are public or private, they have the right to feel good about that.
