Favorite place to play?

Post by Coach »

What is your favorite place to play? I always liked Iron Masters. I lost a lot of balls there though so Down River is better in that regard!

Agree King Valley is decent. Down River is too buggy. Rocky Gap is a 5 * Nicklaus course, and very challenging. Seven Springs is nice, as is Tom's Run. We're just speaking of "local" courses, right? Haven't played Bedford Springs since the re-vamp. Too rich for my blood. I get the American Cancer Society card and like to play different courses. I'm mid-to high handicap.
It ain't over until it's over.

My favorite local courses are Down River, Iron Masters and Whitetail down in Mercersburg. I don't dislike the actual course at King Valley but the people that run the course are the worst. I won't go back there because of past experiences.

Myrtle Beach every year during St. Francis' spring break, when a couple guys can get away. Usually a 3 day weekend. We've probably played 40-some different courses, and some we really liked, several times. We played Oyster Bay and Legends Heathland & Moorland this yr. We also do Ocean City every year after the 10th FH football game. A couple assistant coaches can get away for a couple days before playoffs. OC courses for the most part, rival MB for quality, are somewhat less expensive, and are half the distance. Again, we've played them all several times. Favorites are Baywood Greens near Rehoboth, Glen Riddle's 2 courses- Man O' War & War Admiral, Rum Point, Links @ Lighthouse, Bear Trap Dunes, Eagles Landing. This year we are doing the 5star Nicklaus course, Bay Side, Eagles Landing, and the 3rd escapes me just now. We used to do a late May- early June overnighter to Winchester, but it fell thru a couple years ago due to waning participation. Notables in that area included Rock Harbor, Virginia National, Blue Ridge Shadows, Jackson's Chase.
It ain't over until it's over.
