Pitt and the Big 10 had it easy with Paterno. Many posters on this board wanted him gone long ago. That won't be the case with Franklin. Sleeping Giant is being awakened.
BUT I think the B1G absolutely needs Penn State to become the a giant they once were. Why do you think they only looked one direction in their last expansion? A contending Penn State makes the B1G much more credible than a 7-5/8-4/9-3 Penn State that the league has dealt with the majority of the last 15 years. Penn State should be rattling off 10-11 win seasons year after year after year. I mean honestly when you look at how much of the country they consider recruiting hotbeds and the classes they put together, the only B1G that should compete with them is Ohio State.

Let's face it, Michigan, Ohio State, and Penn State were supposed to the the monsters of the B1G when PSU joined the league in the early 90s. They got about 5 years of this. I really think the addition of Nebraska brings some credibility to the Western division and makes what the B1G views as their ideal "Power 4."

Wisconsin will always be good but will struggle to get the athletes to compete with the SEC, ACC, and PAC12. Michigan State and Northwestern are having one of their better decades in program history but can they sustain, I don't think we should count on it.
