Steelers getting high
Re: Steelers getting high
My legal opinion: they committed a crime, there is no way in hell that if I am their coach that I am letting them play. I don't care if it is preseason or not, those two were busted, why were they on the field THE NIGHT after they got busted. I have my opinions on the legalization if marijuana and I will state that later in this post. No matter how small the crime or, even how small the punishment they will recieve in season, the fact of the matter is they will be receiving punishment, the punishment is they will not be playing so if I'm a coach I should be showing I have some standing with the NFL and its leaders (no matter how corrupt they are) and I shouldn't let them play in preseason where it is mine an the organizations decision. It's about being a coach morally to these two buffoons, I don care if "it's just preseason", you aren't teaching them anything by giving them a free pass.
Okay now my stance on the issue from a different perspective: infinitely more people die every year from eating McDonalds than people do from smoking cannabis. It will soon be legal federally, I have no doubt in that, and then people will be able to smoke it all they want. Is it really a groundbreaking crime that two dudes were smoking? No. Was it a crime? Yes. So they shouldn't be allowed to play, either of them, because they were both under the influence and in a vehicle that was in possession of it.
Here's where the whole situation pisses me off to no end, Ray Rice. I know I'm beating on a dead **** horse but you mean to tell me that the man can brutally lay his hands on someone and get away with it. I'm the furthest thing from a feminist, I actually hate whenever woman say that it is not okay for a man to beat up a woman but a woman can beat up a man, but ray rice you are a **** for laying your hands on someone who is weaker than you. That's what I hate. And he gets 2 games?! The POS should be out for the whole season compared to Pryor, bell and blounts suspension.
It all comes down to commis crappy decisions and priorities.

Re: Steelers getting high
I thought for sure there was no way these two would play last night, but after listening to the pregame on the radio I understand why they did.
Typically the NFL punishes players on stuff like this the following season. So most likely if they receive punishment from the league it will be at the beginning of next year. The Steelers had to deal with this before with Santonio Holmes. After his arrest they suspended him for 2 games I think. Then after the trial or whatever they attempted to suspend him again. The players union came back and said, no, no, you've already punished him. You can't punish him twice. So I think they are waiting for the legal proceedings to be complete before they give out any team punishment.
Weed is such a wonderful thing. Never ruined anyone's life. It is such a motivating substance. Never causes anyone to be lazy, lay around, not work, drive under the influence. Heck, let's as a society not draw any lines and legalize everything. That way everyone can be as happy as the pot users.

If I'm a coach I let them play. I'm paid to generate wins and that's my only determining factor. If the league or the front office wants a suspension, I let them handle that. This league is too competitive to always take the moral high ground.
I don't want to turn this topic into a legalization/non-legalization debate but that is ultimately a large factor in this arrest. The league really has to make a decision quickly on how they are going to handle these types of crimes. I really question if in Denver, Seattle, Boston, or DC if there would have even been one single charge on this case.
It's ridiculous that this is even an issue in today's society. Yes, he shouldn't have been driving but more research shows positive results from pot use than negative. Unlike alcohol it doesn't increase violent behavior, it is not a physically addictive substance (possibly mentally), you can not overdose, and it is 100% natural. Pot is known to be the only non-addictive pain relievers, stimulate one's appetite, and curb depression. It can now be used through vapes an edibles to take away nearly all dangers of using the drug. It IMO is literally the safest drug in the world (including caffeine and sugar).
Corruption in our government and mainly the prison system has kept this drug from being legalized. This is such a great pain killer alternative for NFL players and they really need to allow use of it to them.

Apbk is 100% correct with his little segment on Matijuana.
And old school, as crazy as it sounds he couldn't be more correct when he mentioned caffeine and sugar. Whenever my dad turned 50 he was a host of health problems, including: obesity, sleep apnea, surgery for knee and shoulder, and a severely inflamed Lumbar. We went through so much to figure out why his health was deteriorating, it was the obvious answer the whole time: obesity. Then we went through even more to find out how to shed all his weight. He was a wrestler in high school, and his automatic idea was "I'll go in the basement, crank up the heat and circles witha garbage bag on", we'll he physically couldn't do that because of all his knee problems. So when asked about how we could alternatively do it, the doctor told us to cut off his supply of carbs, foods with simple carbs such as white bread, soda, and white rice completely. And then complex carbs to basically 30 grams a day, brown rice and the likes. He lost a considerable amount of weight (270 to 225) and in the process basically all his problems completely or almost completely went away. But he suffered the first 2 weeks, he started to have massive migraines, he started to get very pushy and irritable, he would always ask for a soda or a burger from Burger King. What does this sound like? Addiction. That's what happens when somebody is waned slowly off of cocaine or heroine, I know trust me. Sugar isn't the only one, caffeine. How bout the millions of Americans who say they physically "can't operate" without coffee, we'll they aren't lying. Their bodies become used to burning/ using caffeine and sugar alike as energy. I could go into how they then do not burn fat as their primary source of energy but I think you can correlate my dad's story and see for yourself.
My point is, a apbk was right. Exact. When have you ever heard a pot related death? When have you ever heard someone admitted to rehab because they are addicted to pot?
It's a ponzy scheme, one powerhouse American politician saw the money it would bring to the government if they made it criminalized so he capitalized. It's money guys, just like everything else in those country is. With that being said ITS AGAINST THE LAW TO USE IT. It's a law, and it was disobeyed, plain and simple. How can these guys smoke, get busted, play the next day, be completely apathetic about it on camera and were okay about it. But if me or one of my co workers did it we would lose our job. Another instance of athlete immunity I guess.

Re: Steelers getting high
Believe me telling 2 NFL regulars that they have to sit out a preseason would have been zero punishment in their eyes. Those guys hate playing in preseason games and would have loved nothing more than to been in shorts watching from the sideline.
IMO Blount will get nothing out of this and Bell will get 1 game...next season.

You play to win the game!!!
Re: Steelers getting high
But sitting them out in the game against the Eagles would have SENT A MESSAGE that the Steelers are serious about what they did was wrong. Instead, let's just pooh-pooh it for now, and maybe it will just go away.
