Tim Bennett was the excellent shooting guard on the 69 team.

Who would have thought that 40 years later Johnny Maier would become a beast again..not in the good sense. Johnny would turncoat on his alma mater and vote with his rich buddies in Ligonier to consolidate. I wonder if he purchased the trophies that display his name after the school board voted to sell all of the Laurel Valley trophies. Maybe they gave him a special deal! I wonder if they sold the Ligonier trophies? Oops did they ever have a state level trophy?

Everybody forgets about the 1960 Laurel Valley squad. That team won the District 6 Class B "Class AA" championship. They lost to eventual State Champion Wampum.

Wow. Wampum? There's a name that's a blast from the past. Down by Tarentum and New Kensington, now part of the Valley HS district. I seem to remember they had a kid named Richie Allen, who later went on to star for the 60's Philadelphia Phillies as a 3rd baseman.

Manfred wrote:I'm from FH area, but remember many of the names mentioned. The Coach had to be Andy Pahach. Johnny Maier was a multi-sport beast. Dave Gregory and a couple years later younger bro Gary, could really shoot the ball. The team that went to the finals in Hershey, and I saw them there, was PG Paul Hall, 6'7" Tom McClure, Kurt Klavuhn, Doug Mulligan, one of the Fullers, and I can't remember the others. That team was in the mid-to late 70's.
Is this the Paul Hall that now does some officiating in that area? He also ran a girls AAU team for awhile. If it is I will ask him at work.

it is him blue and white....he was somebody I tried to pattern myself after as a point guard....he was a great ballhandler but was super quick defensively and created problems for the other teams guards.....
