West Pac Week 5
West Pac Week Five Predictions: YTD 17-3
Ferndale (0-4) @ North Star (1-3)
North Star is heading south in a hurry and Ferndale is already in the South Pole so this game
may be interesting. Being that North Star is heading south and not landed yet I will give the edge to the cougars at home.
Prediction North Star 21-0
Conemaugh Twp (2-2) @ Blacklick Valley (1-3)
CT is a work in progress and as long as their workhorse keeps pulling the plow they will keep winning the games their supposed to and I look for them to win 5 games this year and get back
Into the playoffs. Blacklick like a bunch of the other West Pac teams are rebuilding and I think CT is a better team and wins by grinding it out.
Prediction CT 21-7
Berlin (3-1) @ Windber (2-2)
I think Berlin will come out a bit angry after last week and steams roll the ramblers at home. Windber has been playing better ball and if they can limit their turnovers they could make this a game. Berlin needs to win out if they want a possible show down with Portage again.
Prediction Berlin 35-7
Portage (4-0) @ Shade (2-2)
Unless Portage has a hangover they will come out of this game at 5-0. Shade has been able to
Keep it respectful against some of the better teams in the conference but, that’s about it. Shade is most likely your # 4 team in the West Pac and would need a top tier performance to
Pull an upset here. Not this week
Prediction Portage 35-7
Meyersdale (4-0) @ Conemaugh Valley (1-3)
Meyersdale wins big.
Prediction Meyersdale 52-7
Ferndale (0-4) @ North Star (1-3)

Hard to win at blacklick! Be careful. And if shade had a qb they would be right up at the top. It is killing them this year!
Re: West Pac Week 5
Agreed, these Shade boys are a good group

I think you are being a little rough on Ferndale. If you watched them play last week, they looked much better than they did previously. They are just young. Coach Q. seems to have them on a good path on the offensive side of the ball, just a few youth mistakes
Re: West Pac Week 5
Meyersdale/ Portage will be a slugfest. I think the kephart kid is the best back in the west pac. He has the size, speed, moves, and the breaking tackle run u over ability Fochtman a close 2nd!

I Say Portage and Berlin run all over Meyersdale their Big But there slow too. Kephart and Fochtman are great patient backs no doubt there.west33 wrote:Meyersdale/ Portage will be a slugfest. Agreed!!!! Way to rough on a tough bunch of Ferndale kids and who have shown they never quit and have more fight then anyone out there. This group is mostly freshmen and the coaching staff has them going in the right direction, looks to be rather quickly too after the way they played last week . Future is bright if they can get more kids out that's their problem and seems to be Valleys problem also.
Re: West Pac Week 5
Saw meyersdale scrimmage everett and Somerset and those big experienced linemen did well. Also meyersdale has a better qb and wrs in christner, cole, and that big tend. Not saying they beat berlin and portage, but they are a pretty well coached team. If they had a tb like berlin and portage had, they would be unbeatable with the passing game they have. Hoover is a good fb also. Those tbs those teams have can take it to the house at any time. It depends on where berlin plays them. Meyersdale is a different team at home and berlin is there close rival. Will be good ball games! I agree with ferndale as a decent team in a couple years. They are usually tough at home also and have decent jr high teams. Berlin has a lot of guys back next year!
