Ah new posters....

I'll tell you why you don't consider Mt Union a favorite. While you are off playing the rest of the ICC and have 1 big game. The rest of the teams are getting a lot better. The Laurel Highlands makes you battle tested week in and week out. The Mountain League has Central Clearfield Tyrone and honorary member Chestnut Ridge mixing it up for some tough games. Then they go and find some stiff out of league competition.

As far as tests go. I can't see anyone judging anything off a scrimmage. They don't mean anything and the kids know that. Hell half the teams in the area don't even let their stars participate in them

The Backyard Brawl, don't ever judge off of that contest. Its not about skill or who has the better team. Its about hate, bragging rights, and tradition going back in time almost 80 years. Every kid from Youth up wants to bring the trophy to their school.

If you want an example of getting better we can flash back to 2000 both teams come in at Class AA
Bellwood wins opener 19-0 Tyrone plays their schedule they meet in Altoona for the title, a 28-3 Tyrone win

Either way Mt Union fans bottom line is

Forest Hills is a power, not thee power this year but much of the same team that ousted this Mt Union squad last year
Central the defending champion, young and improving, and a true force in the coming weeks
Tyrone hitting another cycle of athletes that look to be the real deal and I have seen many

All will play great D, have equal speed, and can run and throw just like the Trojans

I wouldn't antagonize any of the teams this time of the year. You may have to face them all.

I haven't seen MU play, but I have seen the laurel highlands. Everything you hear about MU is speed speed speed. Are they any faster than teams like johnstown, somerset, guilfoyle, forest hills?? Only districts will tell but I don't think speed will matter much come districts because it's nothing these other teams haven't seen already.

The only thing we hear about MU is speed rightfully so, but they are also pretty physical. If anyone was at the Bellwood game, other than a drive early in the 3rd from Bellwood, the blue devils didn't see inside the 20 all game. I think everyone is so quick to talk about MUs speed and it takes away from how physical they still play.

They pushed Bellwood around, late in the game when you need them long drives. So lets not just talk about speed like that is the only thing MU has. They are a physical team, with lots of speed.

I think MU scored in the scrimmage twice when central had 2nd string linebackers and several other non starters in. That's what I was told. So what ever way it happened....so be it. Cuz there are 3 to 4 contenders this year and they have to play the game...its not voted on. Should be some good football ahead

Agreed jayjay its funny how things work out.

Sometimes you see a great team, and they fall. Seen it many times at different stages of the playoffs.
