...According to ESPN and Channel 6 News, four Penn State football players have been cited after what officials called an "egg-throwing incident" at a campus building the night before Halloween. Center Wendy Laurent, DE Garrett Sickels, TE Brent Wilkerson and safety Anthony Smith were involved at Beaver Hall. All were issued non-traffic criminal mischief citations. Coach Franklin said after PSU's 20-19 loss to Maryland that the situation would be addressed. He said that this incident was "far down the totem pole" among the problems facing college athletics, but still needs to be fixed. Laurent, Sickels and Wilkerson all played in today's game.
...As a follow-up, native Americans across the eastern United States were pissed off by Franklin's "totem pole" remark. Officials also said that they knew immediately that Christian Hackenberg was not involved in the high-jinx, since most of the eggs thrown actually hit their target. And after Franklin gave his press conference about the egging, a ghostly voice with a Brooklyn accent was heard from the back of the room saying "Nobody got hurt".

During the press conference, a reporter asked Franklin, "I hear you lied to your team about seeing the video of the egging." Franklin replied, "You speak with forked tongue." Then went on to talk about all the tepees that were in Nittanyville the night before the game.

When arrested, the police asked Garrett Sickels "Why did you throw eggs at Beaver Hall"? He replied, "Because we couldn't find any tomatoes".

When the police psychiatrist interviewed center Wendy Laurent, he determined that the player was only acting out his aggressions because his parent's had given him a girl's name.

I did get to catch some of the first half of the Duke game. Talk about action. Both teams just marched down the field at will. It's too bad nobody was at Heinz to see it!

Thanks for your input, but this topic concerns a recent incident at Penn State in which 4 PSU football players who, outside late on a school night, were charged with criminal mischief. We are all anxious to see how James Franklin handles this situation. He's already pooh-poohed it by calling the incident "far down on the totem pole" of problems facing college athletics. Franklin has already let 3 of them play in the Maryland game this past Saturday. Let see what happens.
