D5-A Second Round D6-A Second Round
Winding down the season and we have the four top seeded teams still alive. I was a little surprised with Meyersdale bringing out the whooping stick against
Everett. I was wrong in thinking Everett would pull the upset. The other games followed script.
Meyersdale (9-2) @ Tussey Mountain (9-2)
Meyersdale will need to bring there A game to pull off the win. Can they do it? I am not so sure. It seems as neither one of these teams have a shut down defense.
As that may be the case it will revert to offensive fireworks and TM has plenty of them to shoot off. Meyersdale has struggled containing the two high octane offensive teams they have faced this year and they are heading straight into possibly the most explosive offense they have seen this year. The good news for the Red Raiders is
TM doesn't seem to be as good on defense as they are on offense so Meyersdale has a shot at pulling the upset if they can score with TM and get some stops defensively.
I kinda hope Meyersdale can pull off the upset but, realistically I don't think it happens.
Prediction Tussey 42-21
Shade (7-4) @ Berlin (10-1)
Both teams are playing good football right now. I just think Berlin will be a bit to much for the panthers. Defense will be
the key in this one. Shade had very little to offer in the passing game and they are a run oriented team. Berlin shut them down in the first game of the year only giving
up a long (first play of game) TD pass. Shade did have some success running the ball between the tackles and I would have to think they will come at Berlin with that kind of game plan. (chew up clock on long drives). I believe this will keep Shade in the game for awhile but, with the explosive offense of Berlin it will only be a matter of time until they make there plays and as the game wears on it will be too much for the panthers to keep pace with. Berlin is playing some tough defense and should continue that trend. This one has the potential of another lopsided win for the mountaineers if they can stay focused and not look ahead.
Prediction Berlin 35-7
D6-A Predictions
]Portage (10-1) @ Blairsville (11-0)
Blairsville has a good all around offensive attack and can beat you with the pass and run. Portage is more dependent on the running game and if Blairsville shuts down
the bread and butter of Portage this game will be one-sided. I think Portage's season ends after this one.
Blairsville 35-14
Bellwood Antis (9-2) @ Bishop Guilfoyle (11-0)
Really not much to say in this one as I believe BG is in a class of there own. Bellwood will need to play the game of the season to stay in this one. I am not even
sure if that will be enough.
Bishop Guilfoyle 45-14
Good Luck to all the players and coaches and congratulations to you all for making it this far.
