West Pac (District Playoff Predictions)
Since the West Pac has three teams still alive in the playoffs, we will call this post the” West Pac (District Playoff Predictions).” I have been following the post concerning the playoffs and would like to say congratulations to Meyersdale, Berlin and Portage on getting to this point of the year. Also a shout out to Somerset and Ridge. Do the best you can to represent your team and area. The rest will work itself out. Good Luck to the teams still moving forward.
Meyersdale (10-2) vs Berlin (11-1)
This game will be a good one. Usually when these two teams get together it is. Meyersdale struggled in the rain against Berlin in week 7 which in turn, hindered their passing game. I got to see them against Tussey Mt. and their passing game was working well. They worked numerous short quick passes and kept Tussey off balance. Looking ahead at the weather forecast it appears (as of now) the weather will be much better this time around and possibly bearable for the fans to enjoy a good game. Meyersdale strength is their size and passing game. Berlin counters with a spread offense. They are fast and can run the ball. Their passing game is good enough to make teams respect it. Berlin does not have any sort of short yardage or power game and that could cause them some problems in the short yardage situations. I believe this game will come down to Berlins running game vs Meyersdale passing game. In the end I will give Berlin the nod in a game that I believe will be won by the defense.
Prediction Berlin 28-14
Portage (11-1) vs Bishop Guilfoyle (12-0)
Portage beat Blairsville in a game most figured they wouldn’t even be competitive. I hear how the result would have, could have or should have been different “IF” there star RB didn’t go down with an injury. Well he did and that is part of the game. Either way, Portage will need to be firing on all cylinders to stay in this game. BG counters with a fierce defense and explosive offense. They destroyed all comers in the LHAC and I believe they have the tools to move very deep into the playoffs with a possible trip to Hershey looming. I hope that the Mustangs can make a game out of it and weird things happen in HS football. However, an upset here might be a

Somerset vs Selinsgrove
I don’t know much about Selinsgrove but, I think this one will be good game. I can see Somerset bringing home
The victory in a tight game.
Prediction Somerset 21-20
Chestnut Ridge vs. Karns City
Karns city has beaten some pretty good teams and Chestnut Ridge is hard to judge because they play just about
Anywhere. I would have to go with Karns based on the schedule they played but, you can never count out the boys from Ridge. (They are tough and seem to be playing some good football right now)
