This year with injury issue to the QB and 2 games out for Blough probably goes down as a slight disappointment but you can't control that stuff even if you are THE best coach ever. It happens... I'm sure he is looking forward to Next year already... and of course having a very gifted young athelete coming up in the ranks always supports that 1 more year attitude for a coach! I also agree on that note that Cecere (SP?) will in fact be a starter rapidly. Mr. Bailey has shown in the past he likes to start his talent Young at the QB position when justified...
And judging just by the tape, it's justified. I haven't seen the Kudlawiec boy play, but being 5'9" 150lbs isn't helping his case at QB when Cecere is already 6'2" 180lbs.

Who was -supposed- to answer that asinine question except Don himself? Why didn't the asker, ask him himself? Then the response he got wouldn't have been given.

you know what is going on with tbe 8th grade team?
but cant answer a simple question about what the consensus is about Baileys longevity

The consensus about Bailey's longevity is speculation. Watching 8th grade football, for example, demonstrates fact. Big difference.

youngbuck, YOU are the one who said I "know everything" about FH football. Not me. I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express a few times though. The original question you asked was pure speculation on your part, yet you asked it anyway, knowing what the answer would be. Don has better things to do, I'm sure, than worry about what some new/ or old, poster on Bleachercoaches expects from him. I tried to be as polite and blunt about his situation as I could be. Just what do you want, and what's your personal agenda? Call the school and ask for Mr. Bailey through the athletic department. He'll get right back with you, I'm sure.

Here's a simple question for you. Where did you go to school?

I really don't have a dog in this fight, but figured I could give some sought-after insight.
I played for Coach Don Bailey in the early 80's. Back then, there were no Playoffs, no District Championships, etc. You played your 10 game season, and saw where you finished in your Conference. We were 26-2-2 in my 3 years @ FH, and we won several Conference Championships. Camp was Hard, and even Practice during the Season, nothing like it is today. 65 kids would "come out" for football, and as many as 15 would quit the first day or 2 of Camp, because it was "too hard". At the end of Camp, the guys that were left, were Hard, Determined individuals that were willing to endure the hard practices, and yes, some Raised Voices by Coaches. They were kids that Wanted to be there. The big difference, there was No Soccer, No Golf, No Playstation, etc. to easily replace Football in the early 80's. I recently asked Coach Bailey why camp/practices are lighter nowadays. He said its a different world today. If you raise your voice to a kid now, they might get their egos/feelings hurt, and turn to Golf, Soccer, Playstation, etc. A Coach in 2014 does need to have a finger on the pulse of how each kid might react, and while I/you might not want to have it this way,...you can't "treat em all the same." You gotta be a people/personality manager. I think Coach Bailey has done a rather admirable job changing with the times/technology. Six years ago, when 1 of my sons was graduating, I asked Coach Bailey if he was Coaching another 6 years, until my youngest would play for him and graduate. He said 6 years ago what he is still saying to this day. It depends on his health, his family, and his desire/excitement for the game. I believe All 3 of those things remain intact, and personally, I think he'll be Coaching again next year. 1-year at a time. For what my opinion is worth.

A few years back Franco at Tyrone was quoted to be worried about the number of players out for football. After the interview one of the players who overheard him said 'don't worry coach we only need 11'. I agree that times have changed but as you mention above there were 65 kids out for football and 15 quit on the first day. You don't have that today either. For the most part if you start with 45 your going to end with 45, because the players today have already committed. The summer passing leagues, hours of commitment to the weight room, conditioning camp, you know what your in for before 2 a days ever start.

We still yell in Tyrone and let them know that someone out there wants to beat them very badly. I still believe that you have to tear them down to build them up. I will admit though, these days we do have a 'Life Coach'. He is the players friend, consultant, therapist, and inspirational leader. Kids do need a vent, but that's not the head coach.

Don Bailey at Forest Hills, and John Hayes in Bellwood are both respectable coaches and highly revered in Tyrone. You don't have to worry about respect or class when your playing their teams. Many great battles with both programs over the years. I hope they are given the option to choose their time to step down rather than someone forcing their hand. They have committed a majority of their lives to the programs at those schools.
