Folks, we are talking about recruited scholarship players. Giving the hard working walk-ons hardly count. It's nice to see them earn a scholarship but they are no where near the level of talent a recruited scholarship player brings.

70 scholarships is 70 scholarships. Why would you give one to a player who didn't deserve one. Again who's fault is that? Walk-ons will stay with the team whether or not they have a scholarship. So why give them one. PSU isn't a charity. Again, they either deserve one or they don't.

So you don't think being short 15 scholarships makes a big difference? If they could of had 2 or 3 more offensive lineman that would have been huge. Then they probably wouldn't of had to move some defensive lineman to gaurds.

Moldy if you don't see the difference between a 3* 4* or 5* recruited football player that has options of major programs to play for throughout the country and a walk on that may have received a few MAC or FCS offers, then you are more delusional than I originally thought. It's not that hard to understand.

Maybe that is the definition of a scholarship player at Pitt (a player that received a few MAC and FCS offers), so I guess I can see where you are confused...

Penn State has probably around 60-65 scholarship players this year, maybe more. You hear Franklin mention 43 or whatever, because that is the amount of active players that are not redshirting or injured. Teams have 85 scholarship players, so most teams could say they have 60 or so, because all schools redshirt and have injuries. Penn State is playing with less than most, but the number is not as great as 40.

I do like that Penn State stuck to their guns and redshirted a lot of players that could have helped this year. It was the best way to recover from the sanctions and not waste a recruits best years.
