Lots of good historical information in the article, but the phrase "In the past 10 seasons, 17 of the 20 teams in the PIAA boys Class AA title games were Catholic, private or charter schools" is not correct. In fact, the participants in the AA boys championship for the past 10 years break down as follows:
10 Public (7 from D7, 3 from D12)
5 Charter (all from D12)
5 Catholic (3 from D7, 1 from D2, 1 from D3)
Of those participants, non-charter public schools have won 5 championships, public charter schools have also won 5 championships while Catholic schools have not won a state championship.
