Claysburg has to get past SH first and yes claysburg beat them but if you were there you would have seen a couple of matches going either way.

That is a really informative and sensible post, swat8412. I couldn't agree with you more. The fact of the matter is we would not bump Strayer up unless we thought we needed to, naturally. We have faith in all of our wrestlers and I would send any of them out against anybody else (they have big hearts and desire). I would take that over natural ability any day. I'm confident in knowing whoever would wrestle MacIntyre, Knott, Deffibaugh, etc. (CK) or Albright, Waite, Westley, Tate, Mertiff, etc. (Tyrone) or Manning, Hampton, Buzzinotti (United) is sure to give it their best effort and that's all I ask. Good Luck to all local teams as we come down the final stretch of the season. I smell the postseason---Isn't it great??

a lot of other good wrestlers would want to bump up to wrestle better competition. No matter the weight difference. Tipton use to do it Kirsh did it.

Strayer has done it time and time again for us. He is clutch. If it was up to him he would bump up every match if it meant wrestling better competition. He is not a wrestler who runs from tough matches. He enjoys the challenge and wants to wrestle the best around. Unfortunately for him, the decision is not up to him and we (coaches) decide what matchups we want to have to try to win. Trust me when I say this: Jake Strayer is as competitive a wrestler as there is in the state!! I will never question Jake's heart. This is not a kid who had the natural ability to succeed in Wrestling. Jake is a very hard worker and deserves all the accolades he gets.

Agreed 100% FHCOACH, I've seen Jake at the CC school practicing with Strittmatter and his boys after he already probably practiced at FH, what other kid is doing that? My guess would be none if any.

You'd be wrong on your guess, although not far off.I know a few kids that go to school at 6AM for a workout, then practice after school, and find time to get over to State College to Chertow's a couple times a week, and a couple are still on the honor roll.I acknowledge we are talking about the very few instead of the minority, heck I'm exhausted thinking about some of these guys schedules.
