Cool thing about my work is I won't need to take vacation time, I can just come in an hour early tomorrow. 7-4 is going to be rough, but you do what you gotta do for Opening Day!

It eventually comes down to pitching. In terms of hitting, some will better and some worse than last year. Today was a small sample in that Cueto is going to shut down a lot of teams will be making $20M+ somewhere next season.

If the starting pitching stay healthy and performs consistently and the bullpen equals or comes very close to what was done last year, the Pirates can win 88-90 games.

If Watson falls back to Earth (like he did today), AJ Burnett performs like he did last season in PHL, Morton remains a head case, and injuries occur, I see .500 +\-.

Btw, I was at the "Cueto" wildcard game sitting 10 rows off the field near the Pirate dugout. Many say that Cueto was rattled that night. I mildly agree because that atmosphere was dynamic and absurd..

...but I did watch Cueto closely and I felt that night, his issue was less being rattled and more that he had just come off the DL with a pretty bad oblique strain and only had 1 start before that game. He clearly looked uncomfortable and was not his usual self. His FB velo was down 3-4mph that night as well.

I questioned the decision to start Cueto instead of Latos, and in hindsight, that decision probably cost Dusty Baker his job.

I agree with you about AJ and Morton but Watson has been one of the better relievers in baseball for three years now and has electric stuff. I don't think you can call one bad game as falling back to earth especially for how consistant he has been over his career.

That's funny, I was about 10 rows behind the Cincinnati dugout and the crowd was nuts. But like you said, I don't think chanting his name made him drop the ball haha, but I do think him dropping it and the crowd going ballistic did lead to him giving up the dinger to Russ.
