Re: Chestnut Ridge
You showed me one team, from one sport...so if you think Tussey Mountain Girls Basketball is a good representative for every D5 school in every D5 sport, then I guess ya got me good!!!! Nice work.Tussey Mt. fan wrote: You said District 5 teams get inflated records because they play sub par competition. I showed you where that statement is not correct.
I said this 3 days before you even posted on the thread so I don't understand your point?Tussey Mt. fan wrote: Here was your statement in another post- Let me know when you guys want to talk baseball, basketball or football. I'm not going to continually have a mindless debate about sports the majority of people on here don't care about.
Basketball was the sport I was talking about.
Okay so do you think year in and year out this would result in their overall records improving...or declining? Be honest with yourselfTussey Mt. fan wrote: Here's your next post- If you want to talk girls basketball, I guess we would talk about the BG Girls....they've done more than any D5 team has maybe ever. We can go back to Westmonts back to back state championship appearances. Bishop McCort girls have also made plenty of deep runs.
You got me there, D5 can not compete with BG on a yearly basis. However, I will put the teams I mentioned (TM, Southern Fulton, Everett, Berlin and North Star) up against any other A or AA team in D6. If you put any of those teams in D6 they would be just as competitive as Westmont, McCort, Bellwood or Blairsville on a yearly basis.
By the way, another state champ from D5 was the McConnellsburg girls in the early 90's.

Re: Chestnut Ridge
I showed you 1 team because I had the resources to get the facts. As I said the other teams I mentioned would have similar results but I don't have their information. I don't have a clue about baseball, wrestling or football so I'm sure not going to comment on them.
Speaking of records improving or declining, here's an interesting stat. TM's recored against non D6 schools over the last 6 years is 88-28 which is a winning percentage of .758. Their record against D6 teams over that same time period is 37-8 which is a winning percentage of .822. TM has a better record against Westmont, Tyrone, Homer Center, Central and Huntingdon than they do against Southern Fulton and Everett.

Re: Chestnut Ridge
As I read through this thread, what I get from it is that JustWrestle doesn't like D5 or Chestnut Ridge (I'm assuming he was mainly refering to the CR football team and their 3 D5 titles). To say that D5 schools or Chestnut Ridge wouldn't have been any good or had decent records if they were in D6 is just to hard to know and it seems unfair to the kids who played and won games. Saying the competition is sub-par is a subjective thought. If you get back to the original thread, it was just a questioned asked that I think someone just wanted to know if winning 3 district titles in one year had happened before. I don't think there was any intention behind that question except to know if it happened before.

Re: Chestnut Ridge
Thanks, this segue in to my next point because you keep touting TM's girls basketball record vs. D6...except when you look at the teams they're beating they're generally the middle/bottom of the pack D6 teams...other than Westmont, who since there state championship appearances in the mid 2000's hasn't had any notable teams and maybe made it to the D6 finals once since then.
Maybe you can answer my post this time. You said you would put any of (TM, Southern Fulton, Everett, Berlin and North Star) in District 6 and they'd be competitive. So honestly speaking, year in and year out would there record improve or decline?

Wow...A CR thread turns into lets bash D5, and now Tussey.......I have looked at posts for the last 15 years or so this board has been in existence...Very few teams stay consistent in every sport....5, 6, 7..you pick..If you are as accomplished as you say...you would agree...some teams get runs with athletes, some don't!...I can give you 10 teams that would have losing records in all sports in D5 as well..That's why they constantly petition to get into D5...you know the teams!!!!....Hard to believe but D5 is made up of about 21 schools .....top to bottom....very few AAA, Somerset who plays in 6, and no AAAA with most schools graduating under 75 kids in a class. I can remember when CR had wrestling and no other sports programs that could compete in anything. Cudos to them!

Re: Chestnut Ridge
Middle to bottom of the pack teams? Tyrone made it to the D6 AA semi finals the last 2 years and have a loss each year to TM. Huntingdon won D6 AAA last year and lost to TM. Keep trying Just Wrestle. You'll get one sooner or later.
The question if D5 teams records would improve or decline depends which league you're talking about. If it's the ICC North, I would say they would improve. If they are playing against BG, Hollidaysburg, Altoona then I would say decline.

Re: Chestnut Ridge
Lets take these comments one by one shall we. If you are gonna tout BG in girls bball lets get something straight right now. Any school that has open doors to Altoona, Holidaysburg and dozens of other schools and plays "a" ball should win state titles. I am sure some of the kids on those teams came from district 5 schools anyhow! If you want to talk track I'll gladly do that too! A few of your facts are wrong. First off Miss Dunchack was a 4 time high jump champ not long jump, also not sure but think McQuillen just missed on an Olympic bid. I would never ever diminish any of the athletes you mentioned, but please lets not forget district 5 athletes who also have superior marks. Brian Sell Olympic team marathon runner, Natalie Dell former standout track athlete turned rower. Oh by the way bronze at the Olympic games in the event. I could go on but what is the sense, seems you have no respect for little district 5. The competition is there you are too wet behind the ears to see it!JustWrestle wrote:If you want to talk girls basketball, I guess we would talk about the BG Girls....they've done more than any D5 team has maybe ever. These all in the past 10 years....or do you guys not want to talk about private schools because they don't count because it doesn't benefit your argument?
Here's your track convo, Tyrone's Erika Voyzey got gold in high jump last year. Luke Gallaher from Forest Hills, he won two state titles in the high jump and placed in the long jump. Brad Kanuch from WH won multiple individual state titles, Karlee McQuillan was PIAA champion in track in 2006, 2007...won the Nike Outdoor title maybe twice? Has a state record, went on to be a NCAA Finalist as well as a member of the US Olympic team. Janae Dunchack won FOUR STRAIGHT long jump state titles. I could keep on going but what's the use at this point right? I barely even did any research and I've already blown District 5 results out of the water. These are just the state champs too, I haven't even mentioned those that have placed. Once again...these are all in the last 10 years.
Tennis I don't even know where to look for Tennis results, if anyone feels up to it and wants to search the depths of internet for some tennis info, go get em'. I know we all care so much about it that there's not even a thread available to post about it...
Softball, I have no knowledge here, I'll concede softball, tennis, and as I've already said District 5 is a power in wrestling.

Re: Chestnut Ridge
There is a girl from Bedford on the BG girls bball team.
Re: Chestnut Ridge
Aside from mentioning it as a jab in a recruiting discussion, does anyone really care about girl's sports???? I mean is there a sadder way to try and win an argument than to bring girl's sports into the discussion???
