D6 Teams on track for Playoffs

Ferndale beat Portage 5-1 earlier in the season and also beat NorthStar 2-1. Pitching dual in the NorthStar game. Also had a comeback win against shanksville. All other games really haven't been close. They have a deep pitching rotation and 1-9 batters can hit the ball well.

Wow Ferndale undefeated, thats a nice story to hear! Do they have any signature wins and whats is the make up of their success? Offense, Defense, Pitching or combo?? Is McCabe still coaching at Portage? I know he had a lot to do with their buildup to sustained success. Sounds like BM will be right in the mix with Central, MU and Bellwood. Bellwood has that signature star player, and when he is on the mound, they are tough to beat. The rest of the team is not bad or average by any stretch, just when the D1 pitcher is on the mound, he is very tough on opposing teams, while their offense is very capable of at least 3 - 5 runs per game, more than enough to win games he pitches in.

Yes Larry "Juice" McCabe is still the head honcho for Mustang Baseball. Ferndale definitely has a nice team. I'll be interested to see the rematch with Portage. The Mustangs had 7 errors in the first game and got doubled off on line drives 2 or 3 times with runners in scoring position and no outs to end possible big innings. Hats off the Yellow Jackets though nice to see them really putting together a fantastic season.

Really interested in seeing how the matchup between Ferndale and Portage plays out. Should be a pitching dual between the two. Both teams seem to be playing great ball currently

Blairsville will also be a team to keep an eye on in AA.

Southern Huntingdon is another team worth noting at the AA level. They have a nice early season win over Mount Union to their credit. Also don't sleep on some of the Mountain League teams due to their records. Penns Valley, Tyrone, Bald Eagle all could knock off a higher seed and it wouldn't be a shock.
