Windber Field

Post by peytonsaturday »

When is it due to open? With the news that BC will be playing on their practice field, it made me curious.

Was past it not too long ago and there was ZERO work that had been touched on it or any equipment around. Now that might have changed in the past month or so but I doubt It. Not sure of the situation there, I know the plans are quite extensive and with our weather are going to take some time to finish. Seems like maybe they should have done this project in stages year by year.

I understand that they are playing their home games at Shade this year.

Yes you are correct. They are playing there home games this season at Shade. Can you imagine what Shade's field will look like by week 6? There will be games on that field every Friday plus plus Shades JV and Jr High. I believe Windber will be playing there JV and Jr. High back where the baseball field is but I could be wrong. They should have just played Saturday nights at Richland. Much closer for their fans and their younger kids could have gotten some playing time on turf.

I can't see any way their new stadium will be done by next season either. If I were a betting man I would put money on that they will have to play somewhere else again next year. All the bids for the renovation of the school and the stadium are coming in higher then they planned and they are scrambling to fiqure out what to do. If they wouldn't have gotten that $200,000 from the NFL they would have been really screwed with what to do about the playing surface.

Just went past the stadium again today, not ONE thing has been touched and no equipment or anything around.

Looked to me like someone randomly ripped out some of the seats.
