I'm certain that the young men who have put in a great deal of time into refining their game and sweated till they can't stand anymore, and poured their hearts into the game, THEY CARE! And their families care! I realize it may not matter to you, but then again, those kids don't care one bit about you and your opinion either. They may not be worthy in your eyes but Winning is just as important to them as the other teams.

west33 wrote:I don't think any team last year that played them stayed in very long. lol Most of bedfords games the starters were in pretty long. He was 6-15 passing for 36 yds 0 tds and 3 ints and 13 rushes for 7 yards and a td vs somerset last year. Vs ridge he was 10-19 for 98 yards 0 tds and 1 int with 15 rushes for 27 yards. Not saying he didn't have good stats vs bad teams. I am saying vs the good teams and big key games, he got shut down! He is a great player, but you have to lead and help your team win the big games with the money on the line to be my best player in the lhc. Like I said i would take cook/shaffer, or barnes/heiple big time players in every game as my 4 best. Jones from j-town if healthy too. They all play awesome offense and defense too. That is why I chose these guys as my top players. One way players aren't in my top 5. jmo
The Coaches got out-coached, not the players. Bedford had no answer for Ridge offensively. Again this is another instance of Bedford always trying to out-scheme, rather than just playing football.

I agree I like to see 2 way players in varsity HS football. I think there are some lineman I would have listed in there not just some of these skill kids as top players in the conference.

I checked a few stats on the these players since West33 was comparing them.

Jones was injured early so he is hard to figure in until we see him this year. But I agree, he has a chance of being one of the best in the entire conference if he is healthy.

Barnes, what were his numbers vs. BG? If your talking him being big time in big time games. 6 of 16 37 yards and 0 TD's 2 INT's, those numbers look about the same as the Bedford QB vs. the great Somerset D from last year. Is it possible that good defenses can do that to someone. Bedford I think had like 20 under classman starting in the 22 positions last year. Is it fair to think that his supporting cast was not ready for the likes of Mostoller, Eller, and company. Football isn't just about skill kids, the men up front play a large part in how a skill player looks.

Heiple, He is a stud but his lowest yards per carry last year were against Bedford and BG. Again the 2 best regular season teams they played. So it looks like they didn't perform as well against better talent?? or did they just have inflated numbers against the weaker teams?

Cook, had his lowest yards per carry vs. Somerset. Although he did have a good game against CR it appears .

Shaffer, had no impact on offense looking at the stats vs. Somerset. Although he had a big night on special teams and D.

Basically of the Big Game, Big Time players west33 pointed out it appears all their number suffered against better competition....

I'd love to have any of them on my team. Just pointing out some numbers.

Which would be the better game to watch? Somerset vs BC, or CH vs Westmont.

I enjoy the write up but how can you label Jones the " best RB in the LHAC in ten years" when he hasn't had the opportunity to do anything yet? I mean he might be the best but didn't he get hurt week two last year? Don't get me wrong I hope the kid is healthy and has a great year. I'm just saying it's a bold statement when you consider the performances of backs like Mccloskey and Heiple last year. Johnstown sure does have some weapons though. I guess time will tell.

The '10 years' was the part that was absurd. He is, or will be, a pretty good player, but if the poster had researched the facts of the past 10 years for all conference schools, he would have realized how foolish the statement was. Guys like Rizzo, Dudukovich, Mehall are just a couple that immediately pop off the top of my head.

I agree. What I'm getting at is you couldn't even claim that he's the best current back at this point. Let alone the best in the past decade... Just a bit premature.
