Mountain League Week 5
Prepare for another lack luster week in the Mountain League. Once again the seperation between the top and bottom of the conference is starting to show. As of right now, it appears that Clearfield is a class above the competition. Last year was a 3 way tie, the conference title will come down to a week 7 matchup with Tyrone.
Central (3-1) @ Bald Eagle (1-3)
Central rolled through the Valley last week with a 47-18 victory over the Rams. They head north again to take on the Eagles who just haven't been able to get anything going. Last week was a big game for them and the Lions shut them out. Look for more of the same this week as the Dragons pin them further down the District standing with loss number 4.
Tyrone (3-1) @ Bellefonte (1-3)
Defeated Philipsburg-Osceola 47-8
Tyrone stayed focused last week by handling Philipsburg-Osceola. Coach Manning believes that his team is on the verge of turning things around. They are going have to prove that to me, they haven't come away with a W in this series since 1992.
Clearfield (3-1) @ Brockway(4-0)
Clearfield destroyed Huntingdon last week. Seth Caldwell and Ryan Lezzer turned in big games for the Bison. Look for more of the same this week as they take on an outmanned Brockway team. The Rovers come into the game undefeated, but they haven't played a team like this.
Penns Valley (1-3) @ Huntingdon (2-2)
Huntingdon has lost two straight games, but should return to their winning ways this week. They would be the 4th best team in the conference and a playoff contender in AA. After a rough start to the season for the Rams, it doesn't get any easier as their schedule still contains games with Chestnut Ridge,Tyrone and Mt Union. It still early but it a steep hill to climb for the Rams, Bearcats take advantage at home with a big win.
Chestnut Ridge(2-2) @ Philipsburg-Osceola (0-4)
Philipsburg-Osceola has another tough game this week, Chestnut Ridge comes to town. Watching the team last week they still have alot of spirit and putting forth effort for Coach Soyster. The Lions are coming off a shutout of BEA, but have a long way to go to reach the top of District 5. They continue to work on that this week as the PO streak climbs to 22 games
As a side note the Mounties are running out of time for that elusive win. Best chances are week 6 vs Penns Valley and week 10 vs Bellwood.
