Mountain League Week 7
We are past the half way mark in the season and week 7 will determine the League Championship. Will Clearfield win it outright or will Tyrone pull the upset and force another 3 way tie for the title
Penns Valley (2-4) @ Bellefonte(2-4)
Homecoming at Rogers Stadium, fortunately Bellefonte will be hosting the Rams as they both come limping into this contest. Bellefonte stuck with Clearfield early on last week keeping it close until half time. Meanwhile the Rams we taking the sacrificial win against the Mounties at home. Penns Valley's defense has been very pourous against teams equal to them. Bellefonte's size and multi back attack will be to much for them. Red Raiders
Central (5-1) @ Philipsburg-Osceola (0-6)
There really isn't going to be much to tell in this one. Philipsburg continues to find ways to lose football games. They are very run oriented, feeding the same back over and over without much sucess. A real lack of speed, size and depth. The Dragons should have this one wrapped up in the first quarter. The Mountie streak grows to 24 games. Hopefully their younger players are learning more than how to lose.
Huntingdon(3-3) @ Bald Eagle (1-5)
Huntingdon has handled the competition they were expected to. The 3 losses all coming to quality teams. A tough 23-21 loss to Ligionier Valley last week has to weigh on their mind as they had a 21-0 half time lead. The main concern coming out of the game is AD Dean Rossi who collapsed on the sidelines. Bald Eagle is another big team in the conference with the O Line averaging in the 280 range. The problem for them is the speed. Look for Huntingdon to attack them outside the tackles, Border and Wagner should have big nights. The only concern for Huntingdon should be getting out of the game without losing one of there key players as these Eagles can add alot of weight to a pile.
Game of the Week
Tyrone (4-1) @ Clearfield (4-1)
The game for the conference title has arrived. Simple for Clearfield, win and its all theirs. Since the opening week loss the Fort Hill, the Bison have been rolling along. For Tyrone this will be a daunting task, perhaps a chance to see how far they have progressed this season after being routed by the Dragons in week 2. The passing game has evolved, some pieces have been changed out and the Eagles seem to be getting better each week. The test will be friday night. This is usually a tight game with 2 of the last 3 being decided by 1 point. It would definately be worth the trip to Lezzer Field to see how it all turns out. Can the Eagle Defense slow the stampede.
