West Pac Week 8 Predictions

Post by Chiefwapum »

West Pac Week # 8 Predictions   (YTD---31-4)

Meyersdale (4-3) @ Portage (6-1)
Portage was in a battle for 3 quarters against a scrappy CT team.   Meyersdale was struggling with the mountain men.   The mustangs will roll all over this Red Raider team.   The Good news for the Red Raider’s is they are in the playoffs.    The bad news is based on how they played last week it will only mean they play one more game before they pack up the pads for the year.
Prediction Portage 49-14

Shade (2-5) @ Ferndale (0-7)
Shade picks up # 3 and with Windber looming next week these Panthers should squeak their way into the playoffs.   If healthy,  this team could pose problems for whoever they get first round.
Prediction Shade 45-0

BlacklickValley (3-4) @ Windber (1-6)
Really not much to say.   Blacklick has been up and down and Windber has been just down.  Look for the woes to continue for Windber as Blacklick should even their record.   The playoff situation is out of reach for both these teams and they will be playing for pride.    Look for coaches on both squads to start getting some looks in for next year.  This game could go either way.
Prediction BLV 35-21

CT (5-2)@North Star (2-5)
Another Back yard brawl and arch rivalry this week.  That won’t make much of a difference in this one as CT is rolling and gave Portage all they could handle for 3 Quarters last week and North Star is reeling.   North Star will be officially eliminated from the playoffs this Friday night.
Prediction CT 35-6
Conemaugh Valley (5-2) @ Berlin (7-0)
CV is playing as good as we have seen them play for years.   I am not sure Berlin has seen a RB like the one CV brings to the game.  The bad news for CV is that the Berlin Defense is as good of a Defense as I seen in the West Pac this year.  I think CV will keep things interesting here for a half or so.   Berlin cannot get lulled to sleep on this game or they will be in a dog fight.   I look for a decent game.
Prediction Berlin 42-14

Can teams make playoffs with 3 wins if they get their 4th by winning the week 10 game?  Or is that just for poops and giggles? Will there even be 8 teams get to 4 wins?  Is there a minimum number of teams that need to make the playoffs in district 5 a?

My senior year we made playoffs at 3-6. We shouldn't have, but there was a 3 way tie between us, Rockwood, and Meyersdale. We made it because we beat both of them. NS was AA that year so that left room in playoffs.

I believe that all 10 weeks count towards being eligible for the playoffs. According to the D 5 site the top six qualify for the playoffs no matter what their record is and any team with 4 wins also (only 8 total). I believe last year that Con. Township played North Star week 10 and both had 3 wins and Township won to make the playoffs.
