Guru's Week #8 LHAC Preview and Picks

Post by Guru »

CC hosts Richland
This week the Devils are coming off their 2nd win in three weeks and there is a renewed sense of excitement around the practice fields.  The Rams have lost 4 of their last 5 games and like CC has played the meat of their schedule early on this season.  I look for this to be a good game, from a fan stand point.  CC has the better special teams.  Richland has the more experienced QB and also the tackling machine, Dan "The Hammer" Verhovsek.  CC has the best athlete on the field in TJ Adams and if he plays the whole game don't bet against the Devils... yes he is that good!
Pick'em

Bedford at BC
Bison will be undefeated, see my week one preview...

BG hosts BM
The only time this will be close is when the opening whistle blows to start the game.  BG will score on their first 7 possessions, the Bishop will call a truce and then McCort will score a meaningless TD.
BG wins by 49

FH hosts Jtown
Jtown is coming off their worst loss in a long time... not that Westmont isn't a much better team this season, but in my estimation, Jtown is far superior athletically and they should have won last week.  Anyway, Jtown also stinks on grass fields. I saw the firetrucks at Don Bailey stadium putting out a fire on the football field.  It must have been a bad one because the pumper trucks were there for hours.  Jtown also stinks in mud.  Combining their hate for natural grass, mud, losing to Westy and the "we don't care anymore" factor... I'm still taking the Trojans... but in a close game.
Trojans by 2... Touchdowns

Heights hosts Somerset
I don't know what the heck the Eagles were up to last week vs. McCort but I look for them to beat the snot out of the Highlanders this week, who lost to BG last week and play Bedford next week.  Heights' only hope is that the Somerset bus makes a wrong turn on the Garrett shortcut and they never show up for the game.
Eagles win by 24

PC hosts Westy
Westmont is bound for the post season and they will win this week and add a few more points to their playoff standing. I look for them to mash the PC defense to the tune of 38pts this week.  PC showed some bright spots last week as their QB in waiting, #12, was slinging that rock all over the field and Terek had about 20 tackles vs. CC.  If PC can hold on to the ball, turnovers killed them vs. CC last week, they may be able to score twice.
Westy by 32

Not only that, but the only directions Somerset has to travel in the LHAC go nowhere near the Garrett shortcut. That would be for the West Pac folks, Berlin, Meyersdale, North Star, Shade, etc.
It ain't over until it's over.

When was the last time it really rained? That field at FH must be as hard as a rock. Didn't hurt to soften it up a little. For safety reasons, of course.

Glad you like my posts kid. You're right.  I am a waste, my son was terrible and I'm so sad that CC didn't beat CH. Finally I don't know anything about this sport.
However, tonight when you look at the scoreboard be sure to remember this post because the GURU is rarely wrong...

Heights beats CC and 3 other teams the whole year and they act like they are D6 champs. Of course it's big news when heights has more than 2 wins in a year. But to think Guru is picking somerset because he's mad????? The only people who think heights will win tonite are the same football fans who think a 4 win season in a weak LHAC is impressive.

Just a final follow up: I swung by G.H. Miller Stadium to check out the fire damage to the grass/sod. You were correct Guru! The Pumper Trucks were just the ticket! They washed away any evidence of a fire! As a matter of fact, there isn't even the slightest smell of charred anything,...just a minor whiff in the air, kinda like....like.....like a mud bog. But, that fire got the heck put out of it! the game will go on, whew!
